I guess right now I'd put out

Hagelin-Brassard-Nash
Kreider-Stepan-Callahan
Boyle-Richards-Zuccarello
Mashinter-Moore-Dorsett

It just lacks....oomph. We desperately need a legit top 6 LW to slot Kreider/Hagelin down.

Maybe Linberg/Miller can shake things up, and Boyle can get pushed down and Mashinter out, but I'm not even sure I want that because Richards and Zuccarello really need size on their wing and Mashinter isn't ideal but I think this team as a whole needs a mall cop.

Jagr and slot Boyle down to 4th. I don't think it'd be a good idea to have Hagelin on that 3rd line. Too small. And I'd rather Kreider play with Stepan, Nash, or Brassard in some fashion.

I think you underestimate the roster, or overestimate other teams. We have a lot of good pieces. This is basically the same team that made it to the 2nd round last year.

It's the same team that Lundqvist and Brassard dragged kicking and screaming to the 2nd round last year. I love Brassard but I doubt he continues to be a PPG player. That leaves us completely on Hank's back. Same old ****.

#NYR agree to terms with LW Benoit Pouliot, 26, who played for the Lightning last season. Former fourth overall pick in 2005 by Wild.

interesting, who wanted a left winger? lol

BREAKING NEWS: The #NYR have agreed to terms with free agent forward Benoit Pouliot...details to follow

We can't afford Jagr

We shall see what happens. I think if they don't end up signing Zucc they can. I have a feeling whether it's Jagr or someone else, that is what is holding up the announcement that a deal has been signed with Zucc. You can possibly grab a 9-12 winger on the open market for cheap after that.

With edmonton's recent additions, including D, what chance do we have of obtaining any of Klefbom, Marincin or Gernat at reasonable prices? Due to supply/demand, cap restraints, can they be had for, not top dollar, but a reasonable yet modest premium?

I'm not thinking like MDZ, who commands more value, but since we now have Dominic Moore, and Oilers want bottom 6 improvement, could we do Brian Boyle/+?

I'm even more bullish on this if we get Burmistrov cheap enough from Wini.

The bold have been waived.
Don't see pyatt here
Zuc is a definite maybe based on constraints as we hold on to BRichards and must re-sign our guys.

I see Miller making this team, and they're not wasting his second yr ELC like Torts did with Kreider.
Lindberg makes this team,
Fast pushes as does Yogan; will depend on who is here and who gets traded.

This isn't being argumentative but seriously asking because I've seen a few people putting Yogan up there to push for a roster spot this season. While I don't think he's a career minor league player and still has potential, why is everyone so high on him for this season? Wasn't he dropped down from AHL to ECHL at some point last season?

The problem with Boyle is he's not creative. Much more the shooter than the passer. He occasionally uses his size and reach to go all the way. He's also decent on the pwp setting up in front of the other team's net. Anyway it's not the wingers he plays with so much as he's not good at setting them up. Other aspects of the game he's very good at and he's good in the playoffs which is really important. But to me your bottom 6 guys should produce enough to keep other team's honest. There needs to be some production. Most of them should penalty kill--a couple of them anyway should be able to fight reasonably well. They all should be good boards players and defensively responsible. Boyle covers a lot of those areas pretty well.

You are correct with a lot of your points and as you said he is not a playmaker, which is why he needs to play with someone who can create plays for line mates. Once Callahan comes back I'd like to see this for our lines
Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Richards-Brassard-Callahan
Boyle-Moore-Zuccarello
Pyatt-Lindberg/Powe-Asham/Haley

That does not include Hags, but playing Boyle on the wing with Moore and Zucc gives us a 3rd line that can put up some points and I just saw we signed Pouliot which changes things!

I heard from NHL Network Radio that an article was published in a Pittsburgh paper that the Penguins organization felt Paul Martin was better than Letang. Letang took it hard, which is why it took him so long to sign his extension. So I don't think Paul Martin is going anywhere...

They only have 11 forwards under contract, 7 forwards, and 2 goalies. What I Shero thinking? Holmgren in Philly isn't much better as he is over the cap, but he at least has 6 mil coming off the books when the season starts since Pronger will be on LTIR (although, he should just retire at this point).

Devils only have 3 mil in cap space left, they used up their space fast! lol

Maineice I literally cannot believe that, Martin better than Letang!!!!! I am sorry I am in shock!

Suddenly I feel better. I'm in love with the Pouliot signing. This adds 15 goal punch to our bottom 6 that we've been severely lacking.

Brassard and Nash can't play together. Two teams now, and it still doesn't work. I'd switch Brass and Step, as Step was the only center that played well with Nash.

Boyle on the 3rd line is making me nauseous, but we're a Top 6 wing away from doing anything about it.

I seriously think this team could be out of it by the deadline. They have no offense and they're soft. How they managed to pull off that generally at odds combo is beyond me.

Serious question, have you ever had an optimistic outlook for this team. Your negativity is so ****ing annoying 24/7.

We're fine. I'm glad we're not signing scrubs and going to give talented kids a chance to succeed.

Good teams become great by allowing young guys to play huge roles.

I know I am quoting myself here. But now with the Pouliot signing, maybe we let Zucc walk? We have been estimating having around $2 million in space with the re-signing of our RFA's through cap geek. Put some of the money saved on Zucc to Jagr and Pouliot?

I don't take it as argumentative at all. You're raising legit points. But there are good rejoinders. :D

Bold: You may be right about that I'm not sure, sounds right.

Yogan protagonists are saying the guy has the needed height and a scoring track record.
He has a C background, which is helpful here, even if he winds up at W, I believe LW if memory serves, also useful here atm.

I think we want him to get a chance, it's his turn, he's improved enough that he should be given an open competition shot, and if he shows enough, reward him appropriately. If he has a strong enough camp, he should be able to compete for lower 6 slot.

If Pouliot gets Boyle off the 3rd line (and more importantly keeps him off the 3rd line), I am a far less miserable person.

Maineice I literally cannot believe that, Martin better than Letang!!!!! I am sorry I am in shock!

don't shoot the messenger lol.

I have not really watched much of either of them, but my understanding is Martin's more of a defensive defenseman and Letang is more of an offensive defenseman.

basically dom moore and pouliot are taking the places of asham and powe
