I found myself feeling bad for the robot. What did he do to deserve such a beating?

It's a parody on a Boston Dynamics video where they're pretty mean to their Atlas robot to demonstrate it's capabilities. Still cracks me up every time. On a side note, am I the only person that feels like I need to be polite to ChatGPT, Grok, etc.? I want to be on the right side when Skynet goes live.

Sincere question....

Is that real or just some guy and a green screen?

Greenscreen. They show how it was done at the end.

This was real though and why they made that parody.

...so the FACT that the U.S. hasn't YET added to the roster because of an injury is your issue...the "rule" still applies in the same way it did with Canada & Harley...we can do this all day, amigo; you are trying to prop up a fallacy...

The point won't change. If some other US player ends up injured and out and then they can officially add a replacement, they'll still have more players out of the tournament than Canada while also being afforded 1 less roster spot than Canada.

Man...what are you even talking about? Canada currently has 8 defensemen (the 7 original + Harley) and Theodore was knocked out hence the Harley call up, and the US has 8 defensemen (the 7 original + Hughes) with McAvoy now out. Both have 7 active defensemen - 6 of the original 7 and one additional. They're literally in the exact same boat. You don't even make sense.

I don't make sense yet you're the one who keeps pretending as if the US has 8 defenseman when Hughes is in Vancouver.

...you have no point...rules were and are being followed, as much as said rules were terrible in the first place...pushing a fallacy narrative...have fun with that... :thumbu:

As much as I'd like to see Quinton Hughes be able to play, he shouldn't be allowed to as it stands with regards to the injury status of our team. Canada was able to call up Harley as a contingency in case they dropped below 6 defensemen after the Shea Theodore injury. Harley was, however, not allowed to practice with the team. When Cale Makar was unable to play on Saturday night, Harley was allowed to play the game, because Makar being unable to play would have left Canada with only 5 defensemen. As it stands right now, barring further injury or illness, we still have 6 defensemen.

Also, despite the debate about it, I haven't seen anything about us asking if we could give Hughes the same treatment that Harley got and being denied permission. I also recall reading upthread that Hughes is still in Vancouver for the time being.

These rules are stupid af and I say that as a Canadian, he should play if he can. The spirit of the tournament is best on best, not "Which Kafkaesque rule can we enforce to create a worse product."

Still waiting for you to prove me wrong that Canada doesn't have more rostered players than the US and the 23 roster limit. Can't figure that out, baby brother?

Hughes can 100% go to Boston, he just can't practice or play. They (the team, Hughes or both) have chosen to keep him in Vancouver becuase he, like Harley, would be unable to practice or play unless another injury or illness happened.

You can read into that however you want, but nothing in the rules is stopping him from being in the city of Boston, the TD Garden or even the Team USA lockeroom.

The rule does not state the replacement player would have to be in the same position. You are so out of your depth, mate. Go back to the Canada thread.

Canada has been allowed to roster 8 defenseman and has 1 more player than the 23 player limit even though they only lost 1 player for the tournament. The US also lost 1 player for the tournament and is only allowed to roster 7 defenseman and must stay at the 23 roster limit.

And if the US loses on Thursday none of this is a reason for it. It's just stupid and inconsistent rule applicatio
As a Canadian, I want the US to have their best, healthiest lineup. What rules? This is basically a glorified exhibition tourny. Who cares as long as it's a fair game.
i guess everyone I know figured this was going to be showcase pond hockey. No body in my neck of Canada thought much about this cash grab. Were we blindsided. Funky rules etc. I believe the Americans got tired of feeling like little brother and flexing the muscle now with a darn good team is starting to puff the chest. The feeling now has changed hasn’t it and now we have players that we have taken to the dance ( and who wouldn’t want a reset)t. I wouldn’t mind having a goaltender change , but here we are, Everyone here now knows where this series has gone and where it is going. We will never ever see this concept again. Does every general manager cringe at the physicality? No one expected this. So let’s dance!!! The political climate has changed for now and it reminds me of US verses Them the way it was when we played the USSR.

If we just want them to change rules on a whim then this tournament will never be more than an all-star game.

What should happen is before the next one allow for larger rosters or taxi squads that are able to fly in when needed.

I think in a situation like this, it would show maturity for them to admit that there was an oversight and that they are going to make an adjustment for the benefit of the fans.

Of course they won't do that though.

That would require for the NHL to admit that they were wrong about something. In my 23 years of watching this league, I've found that they only do so very rarely, and usually only when forced to.
