Hoo boy. Not a fan of free agency so I'm pretty delighted these last few days. Granted, some good value deals were signed but I'm waiting till the team is finalized to pass judgement.

I have a feeling Gorton is cooking some moves and he's just waiting for the right time. He's notoriously patient. It may turn out that he needs that cap space to land a good player squeezed out on a strapped team. Just have to see how this develops.

I have to wonder here too if NYR is considering that once arbitration happens they're going to be teams that need to move out salary in order to hold their teams together with arbitration awards or if there will be some decent players available as free agents if their teams walk away from their arbitration assignments. There's so many moving parts here with a flat cap it's just interesting to see what direction they go with this. Cap space is such a weapon still, you don't have to use it up right away

By the time the RFA's are settled, they won't be any targets left and their trade chips will be effectively re-signed. Re-signing a guy to trade him the same off-season has never happened outside of video games.

I get what you're saying about the financial outlook, but the way our team is constructed, we're done when those contracts are settled. Those players were the significant chips.

Again, assuming this team keeps both Strome and ADA they should be better than last year even with no Fast.

Strome and ADA won't be traded after being signed. Just don't happen. Filing for arbitration means they're effectively signed.

I dunno, signing RFA contracts is different than signing UFA ones, so I kind of disagree with that
