Oilers Current Trade Deadline Needs:

-Upgrade on Janmark (3LW)
-Upgrade on Henrique (3C)
-Upgrade on Brown (3RW)
-Upgrade on Podkolzin (2LW)
-Upgrade on Arvidsson (2RW)
-Upgrade on whoever plays 4C
-Upgrade on Klingberg (top-4 D)
-Someone to play with Nurse (top-4 D)
-Upgrades on Skinner AND Pickard

I think the needs of the team are obvious.

1. Veteran Goaltender (John Gibson?)
2. Stabilizing Defenseman (Jamie Oleksiak?)
3. Physical Energy Forward (Trent Frederic?)
4. Physical Scoring Forward (Alex Tuch?)

The guys didn't just forget to play hockey. They need to clean up their turnovers and know that every chance against isn't going back in the net.

Out:

John Klingberg (Basically our worst dman - 46.27 CF%, 40.01 xGF%, 40.57 SCF%, 37.50 HDCF%)
Victor Arvidsson (Has good fancy numbers but has underperformed at 4M. Leads the league in falls / 60.)
Kasperi Kapanen (He's been on the ice for 17 GF and 26 GA 5v5. Has continued to get worse since we've picked him up).
Mattias Janmark (He's been on the ice for 18 GF and 27 GA 5v5. Basically our worst forward 45.75 CF%, 44.55 xGF%, 47.06 SCF%, 47.55 HDCF%)

I think that's the right order. If Kane comes back, the team might be able to get away without #4 this year but the other 3 need to be addressed by next week. That's 3 trades which should be doable.

I agree with most of this, it would be great if the team could bring in two forwards, plus Kane going into the playoffs. Kapanen should not be on the roster, and Janmark should not be an everyday player the way he's playing. He should be fighting with Perry and Brown for playing time.

Would love to see Henrique bumped up to McDavid's wing for a bit. I think he might be done as a centre, I just don't see where the offence is going to come from with him playing there. Otherwise, you're resigning to playing him as your fourth line centre, after scoring 24 goals last season. Give him a shot as the defensive conscious with McDavid.
