He was not a puck hound. The dude was below average offensive and slightly above average defensively.
He went to the boards just as much as any other player on the team for puck retrieval. And defensively responsible.
I'm ok with moving on but not if the price was only 2 million.

Why is the automatic assumption the Rangers offered less than 2M/yr? Since when have they ever lowballed people they'd like to keep? Like the idea someone could prefer another destination or whatever is so beyond the pale that it MUST be the front office messing things up.
Fair enough!

What does everyone think about tanking another couple of years to try and get Shane Wright as our 1C of the future?
I don't think Kakko's prime is gonna line up with him, we should get out in front of things and trade him for a monster package.

If you assume our top 9 wingers are Panarin, Buch, CK, KK, Laf and Kravtsov, it's not surprising that Fast might be looking to play elsewhere, especially when you potentially through Chytil in the mix as well.
The Canes should be playing meaningful playoff hockey throughout that deal so it makes a lot of sense from Fast's POV he thinks that he's a chance to be a contributor on those teams

Why are we assuming Kravtsov is in top six again?

Obviously there is some elite talent in those top 9 wingers but I hope CK and KK can really impose themselves in the corners with puck battles. Lafreniere probably will eventually sooner rather than later but probably not next year.

I'm also still wondering what we're doing with this cap space that we would have gotten next year anyway if we just let Hank and Staal ride.
That seems pretty comfortably earmarked for a 2C, be that Strome or a trade option.
