I would bet against Martin signing with the Rangers for 3 large.
If you told me they would have let Fast slide for 2 million dollars I would said no way. He could play on bottom 6 any day of the week and twice on sunday for that money. Not to mention there will be injuries to the top 6 wingers. Could slide right in.

Rangers probably didn’t want him for that 3rd year. It makes sense.
Is a third year at 2 million gonna really hurt that much? I mean you're gonna pay someone at least a million to fill a bottom 6 wing. so really 1 million difference.

If he offered more as reported what exactly did you want him to do? This has not been a terrible week. We weren't making a splash in FA this off-season.

There's a difference between not making a splash and being stupid. There have been lots of solid players who signed for under 2M on short term deals. We signed the worst of all of them. This indicates we weren't interested in those guys as it's not really reasonable to expect that we spoke/offered similar deals to those players and every single one turned it down.

To name them Fast, Larsson, Pysyk, Stecher, Nosek, Jankowski, Noesen, Verhaege, Cousins, Pitlick, Ryan, Hinostroza, Rodrigues, Merrill all were solid options.

To do almost nothing. Which is what most fans want them to do.
No need to sign anyone to contracts that will handcuff us in the future years. Now is the time to be patient and let the chips fall.
A 2m ACV is not a handcuff. That is a below average contract. That is an outstanding contract for Carolina.

Well from what I just read they offered him 3mil per year so he would of made the same money as he is going to make in Car if it was only 2 years. Really seems like Fast is the one who didn’t want to stay

I'm with you regarding letting the chips fall where they may especially after the dubious signing of JJ and letting go of Fast for peanuts. Not sure how handing 2 million to a legit bottom 6 guy who can fill in the top 6 handcuffing you.

Where did you hear that? Not doubting you but why on earth would someone wanna take 2 million over 3 years vs 3 million over 2 years? Or did they only offer him 1 year at 3 million?
Who knows what a player is thinking but it always seemed like Fast was a soldier and happy to be here.

Wat?? Fast offense was almost non existent just ask @Kovalev27
He was a puck hound. I'm not saying he was an offensive dynamo. also defensively responsible. Of course if he scored 25 goals a year he would be making 2.5 times what he got. he can score 15 plus goals along with the other intangibles he brings thats worth 2 million to me.
