it's probably incredibly exciting for a GM because they have some control over what will happen (as opposed to watching their creation later).

nerve-wracking af for the rest of us.
No doubt, Zito inherited some bloated deals and has already worked some magic to use assets to erode some of them.

Zito isnt scared to hesitate and really like his focus on goaltending, even if outsiders mocked us for excellence department that others are now implementing.

Once Horny and Bob are gone, it'll open the door for him to put his final touches on his own squad.
You can see our scouting focusing on speed, grit and skill. Players with leadership and good motors.

JJ is gone?!

I'm ok with that, he is a GOAT. 8 years is risky, but the cap will go up significantly
Rather have Verhaeghe but yes he was pretty solid against TB, his forechecking was superb.
Just seems like he cashed in big time after a solid year and a half. At 27-28, it's a huge commitment but Colorado has a nice 5-6 year window ahead.

It's a bit of a risk for him to keep up that pace of play but some Colorado fans are saying it's about 600k per year overpay.

He's had one good season but that shouldn't warrant a fookin eight year deal with top money. But hey, it's the Avs and not us...
