Whatever happens, Bruno is in a lose-lose position here.

If his PP works out great, it’ll be “why the f*** didn’t you do that here?”

If his PP sucks, it’ll obviously be “that was predictable…”

So I’m not losing sleep over Bruno being somewhere else.

Problem is there is no top end shooting talent. This post is laughable
Ekblad has one of the best slap shots and one timers in the league.
Barkov's shot has become elite; he's a bona fide sniper.

The problems with the PP were as follows
- Ekblad doesn't move his feet
- Ekblad isn't a very good passer
- As a rule, Ekblad hesitates an extra second before doing anything with the puck, and it allows the PKers to get back into position
- Huberdeau is neither capable nor in a position to take one-timers, which allows the PKers to cheat on Ekblad
- Huberdeau is careless with the puck and gives it away a lot
- Huberdeau just has the same one motion that he does curling up and back for a shot
- We don't regularly deploy someone to screen in front of the crease for the duration of the PP

Huberdeau is very predictable as a rush chance specialist. He excels at receiving a pass in the neutral zone or on top of the d-zone blue line, making a pass for nice zone entry, or carrying the puck into the zone and making a cross-ice pass for a scoring a chance.

Ekblad should on the left side, shooting one-timers from Barkov/Montour. If Ekblad has to skate a lot during the PP then his effectiveness on the PP reduces quite a bit. And that's a bit of a problem when facing a PK unit, like the Dolts employed, that hounds the puck

Yeah agree with this. Ekblad is at his best on that left side rather then on the blue line. The only problem with this is we had too many players to fit in on the PP1 once he came back. I would rather have had Barkov on the right, cause he does have a good shot, but he would instead be on the line. It would have been best to have, as you say, Montour on the blue line. But having brought in Giroux, we had too many forwards that "had to" be used on the PP1 as PP2 rarely gets a sniff. Too many of the same player on that PP1 was be problem. Had Ek been on the left he would have been the only "shooter" on the PP, Barkov has a great shot and one timer but don't use it enough. We needed Ek on the left and a Hoff-type player on the right. Two guys willing to shoot on both sides, add to that a guy that fights infront of the net and it would have been lethal in the playoffs.

We finally have a more balanced roster, I am actually looking forward to this coming season and playoffs! :) The players we have brought in is the type of players we should have brought in during the tdl.

Yes I'm not perfect, so sue me.

Nobody’s perfect buddy…

But when someone has done the math and tell you that maybe you are wrong… You should atleast take the time to verify your numbers, instead of answering back with a condescending tone. :)

I could have been wrong and made a mistake, but by the answers you gave, I knew I was the one that verified the numbers, and you were the one making a small mistake.

Never speak in absolutes unless you are 200% sure that you hold the true truth ! :P

Either way, most important thing is that the bargain-bin shopping by Zito was great and our roster looks as good as last year before the TD acquisitions. Which is a big win for us.

Speak in absolutes? I just talk. Obviously you don't like the way I talk and that hurts me deeply.

Hey man… I’m not alone on this, and haven’t been the only one to call you for that.

We’re all here to speak and talk about our favorite team. Yet you get called out from time to time for how you do it.

I used to be really hard on you because obviously you love/follow prospects like I used to, but you were talking about 18 years-old kid like they were sure-fire commodities, and I couldn’t take it, in part because you were misleading A LOT of our posters around here that don’t follow our prospects.

This time I find it funny, because after prospects, one of my favorite things to do is crunch the numbers, and I believe I’m pretty good at it, and saw that you weren’t, yet still were talking with no-place for you being wrong.

It’s okay to be wrong, just accept it, acknowledge it and try to be better next time… Instead of being a condescendant Canes fan ! ;)

Anyways…

Back on topic !

I don’t know if the maths work for us to get our hands on Puljujarvi and try to sign him… He could be our Nichushkin or new Marchment !

I need Zito to make a move, holy hell !!!

Canes fan? I have no idea what you're talking about now. I'll continue to do me.. If you don't like it, tough.

My opinion on Brunette is he is in a good place now, New Jersey sucks but Ruff has been around forever. Take a couple years there to learn and when Ruff is fired, take over. I'll be blunt, anyone who thought he should have stayed is wrong. Literally no coaching experience and you want him to lead a top 5 team? He ran Q's system which was fine for the regular season but when you face a team in a series where they make adjustments, it clearly showed he wasn't close to ready (he admitted this). Q took the champs to 6 with a way worse roster and all time bad goaltending, Brunette almost lost to a low seeded Caps team (took 1.5 games to adjust to the 1-3-1) and then got swept by the Lightning despite Bob putting up a .920%. I know their regular season powerplay was 6th but it felt a lot of the time to be discombobulated and they'd just randomly score if that makes sense, and the post season, well it's the worst % of all time through a 2 round span so I don't think he was some powerplay savant.

It was a weak coaching year, I really feel Maurice was the best available after Cassidy, we'll see how it goes but again the regular season won't be an issue.

I am curious to see how Weegar performs under new coaching. If he can simplify his game, he goes from being in the doghouse to being "pay the man." I'm not quite ready to give up on Weegs. He can play, and pretty well for a reasonable amount of the time. Not sure there are many dmen out there that other teams are WILLING to trade that are an improvement on Weegs.

Kinda weird. Didn't Matheson turn it around last season with Penguins ?

He did, both the Pens trades today were terrible (Marino trade much worse). Petry is better than MM but their roster age is like 37 now lol

It seems like Pittsburgh is going for one last Cup, and feel "whatever" towards anything that happens after that. With their lottery luck, you know they'll be terrible in 5 years, then draft the next Crosby and build another mini-dynasty.
