No way Gorton is taking just the Ryan contract to help facilitate a trade between OTT and TB. The Rangers would have to get something incredible to make that trade.
Awful for usJust having some fun....
To Ottawa.. Hayes Tampa 2nd.
To Tampa ek65
To nyr conditions removed from first. Bobby Ryan, Johnson, foote, raddysh

On XM Sirius they are discussing Tyler Johnson coming back to the Rangers.

A couple of my thoughts because no one is telling me anything.
I could see Ottawa insisting on two things...getting a first this year (optics) and moving Ryan in any deal. The Rangers can accommodate both of those needs for Tampa, no one else can. The price can and should be high but if Tampa is facilitating this, their payment to Ottawa would be less. Certainly an interesting chess game.
And has Karlsson actually agreed to a contract extension with Tampa? Could there be a hangup there?
To OTT - Sergachev, Pionk/ADA, Spooner, Raddysh/Foote and 2019 TB 1st*
To TB - Karlsson, Buchnevich, Vesey? and 2019 TB 2nd.
To NYR - Ryan and Kucherov
This is pretty interesting. Didn’t really consider the fact that TB can’t trade a 1st/2nd for Karlsson without getting the NYR involved since both are conditionally owned by the NYR. One good reason why it would make a ton of sense to speculate the NYR are involved here.
Exactly, and the Caps had supposedly taken a step back. No one thought they'd win the division, let alone the Cup. There are no givens. The Bolts were supposed to be a dominant force after getting McDonagh. It's hockey and nothing is for certain no matter how much you stack your roster. It's not like basketball where 2 or 3 guys dominate 80% of the game.
Maybe, maybe not. What if it prevents them from bringing in another free agent that could persuade Panarin to sign for a team in a rebuild? Panarin isn't in the bag. The Rangers will need all the help they can. Do you know who wont get Panarin interested in coming to the Rangers? CallahanCallahan won’t prevent the Rangers from bringing in Panarin.

If the rangers need to persuade panarin to come to NY by signing another big ticket ufa then I hope they don’t get panarin
Something tells me that won’t happen though.
I don’t understand why Ottawa wants to move the ryan deal if they’re rebuilding anyway. He’s a fat deal to keep on the books so you can hit the floor easily without giving out more contracts

Why? The Rangers have cap room and this is a potentially talented FA class. It's not an insult. I think the front office says to Panarin and let's say Seguin we want to build around the two of you, then that's a hell of a sales pitch. Nothing wrong with thatIf the rangers need to persuade panarin to come to NY by signing another big ticket ufa then I hope they don’t get panarin

They have the extra space and can get an additional asset or 2 by using said space to take on some salary.
This is exactly what they should be doing. Toronto did this when they were in the same position we are.
This is coming from someone who hates Callahan and would rather not see him wear the Rangers jersey again.
The dream is dead
