The only two contracts that really hinder Dallas this season are Hanzal (2 years left) and Spezza (1 year left). They still have Gemel Smith, Devin Shore, and Mattias Janmark as RFAs this year, and Seguin is due an obvious pay bump next season.

I don't think we'd be getting anything too drastic if we opt to take back Spezza from them. They haven't had that many picks lately, and their prospect pool is pretty weak to me outside of their goalies and Heiksanen. If I had to choose, I'd want Albin Eriksson, their 2nd rounder from this year.

Getting Spezza could mean trading Hayes too

Wouldn’t Spezza at 50% be swingable? I would think that he could be moved sooner rather than later during the season. Always someone looking for a RHS and some PP help.

Karlsson trade talks reaching climax
Pagnotta report on EK.

Cliff notes:

Seems like a few more teams involved. Dorion keeps backing out of trades.

Not surprised in the slightest and falls exactly in line of my suspicions of him pulling all the garbage with the media and leaked rumor abuse. Literally abusing outgoing reports because he doesn’t care for the organization or their reputation anymore - doing this crap because he has no idea how to negotiate trades and doesn’t want to accept his own grave that he dug.

I enjoy how TFP is unreliable when they put out info that some people don’t like and reliable when the opposite is true.

I think DP is getting decent info on the Karlsson front, but I don’t think the rangers are in.

I'm pretty sure historically they haven't been reliable but they were the first ones to announce the JT signing.

They’ve been pretty accurate this offseason, at least it seems that way to me. I considered him/them a joke prior but their sources seem to have improved.

So, maybe this is a bit out there, and let me know if I'm wrong.

The Rangers can't normally talk to Karlsson. But if the Sens give them permission as parts of trade talks, they can mention that they're interested in signing him, yes?

I believe it’s been reported that the sens made EK available to negotiate an extension with all teams interested in trading for him

My guess is that "back channels" been open for months.
