Speculation: Free Agent Frenzy Part III - Will EK stay or will EK go?

To follow your thinking, did Ottawa leak the Callahan/Johnson names falsely because it sounded good with NYR involved? Ottawa wants EK out of conference so they may be using TB for leverage and they don't care about salting the earth. The leak trade details don't make sense so maybe it was all to get the other suitors involved.

This would go in line with Brooks yammering on about how the rangers don't want karlsson.... He is their moutbpiecm, their outlet for press (whether it's false or not).

You guys are aware that cap friendly has a calculator for this, right?

Post-Tax Earnings Calculator - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

But that calculator doesn't really show the whole picture. It's a basic tax calculation based on the tax per location, but does not take the tax paid per game into consideration.

As mentioned earlier this week: A player pays tax based on where he "works". So a player contracted to the Florida teams, still pays state income tax for games played in states with that tax.

Has anyone confirmed that with cap friendly?

This is correct. Another significant factor may be bonus structure...I am not a CPA but would imagine that in an extreme bonus contract like JTs, the bonus is earned in the home state. I mean the reality is that any individual tax situation can be far more complex than it may appear in a back of the envelope calculation on Twitter or in something like this. You can’t just multiply a salary by 1 + the tax rate to make a comparison but it is directionally correct for sure though.

Brooks doesn't even know who 90% of the Rangers prospects are. He's so lazy and clueless. He should have retired 10 years ago.

Take on a bad contract if it gains us valuable prospects/picks as long as the contact is off the books in 2-3 seasons

Trade Zucc at the deadline

Trade Names, Spoons and CK within 1-3 seasons

We have 25+Million coming off the books in 3 seasons (Hanks, Smith, Staal, Shats). That’s when you make a splash in UFA and by that time the kids should be men and ready to battle with some added help.

Sallad. Ti Rof tiaw.
Karlsson? Us? Both?

Certainty? Rumor? Hunch? Speculation?

Feed me

Edit: Your post from the main boards in the Karlsson thread

Ek65 for Heiskanen
Spooner for Spezza plus an asset or two
Zucc plus a D for Lucic plus a rather large asset (or 2)

Give me answers!!

Please

Thank you

So CT should be good for once this year ?

The D should be Hajek, Lindgren, Day, Bigras, Gilmour, O Gara and a vet like Kampfer

The Wolfpack should be better.

Having said that, we all have to keep in mind that the progress of our prospects will be about more than numbers.

Obviously you want to see them dominate as much as possible, but their time in Hartford is also about rounding out games.

I use Pionk as an example from last season. He had good AHL numbers, but not necessarily a stat line that jumped out and screamed that he was ready for the NHL.

However, when you watched the Pack you saw a focus on him learning nuances and how to read a new league and new systems.

Just something for all of us to keep in mind.

Regarding Duclair signing with CLB:

Duclair had interest from 10-12 organizations and serious offers from five or six teams. Philippe Lecavalier wouldn’t say how many were one-way offers, but NHL sources told The Athletic that Duclair turned down more money from at least one other NHL club.
The term and the money, Philippe Lecavalier said, were secondary in the process.
“I thought he should go to the best situation, hockey-wise,” the agent said, “not necessarily the best offer.”
What Columbus offered, both Lecavaliers figured, was a chance for Duclair to make the right choice at an early crossroads in his career.

Why Anthony Duclair settled for the NHL minimum and joined...

I think Hartford still needs another 4A-type player or two, both upfront and on the back end. Problem is I don't know how much space they'll have.
