Besides Stralman, not really.I’d kill for a GM like Yzerman. Not afraid to load up, great drafter. Has plundered our organization

People here killed Gorton for loading up when we were competitive.I’d kill for a GM like Yzerman. Not afraid to load up, great drafter. Has plundered our organization

I doubted this deal would get done tonight and i still do, i think this is one of those work through the night and a morning announcement i.e Nash kind of trades
I feel rapinedPlunder is a strong word. Not as strong as say, rapine, but definitely stronger than looted. Somewhere between marauded or despoiled and pilfered or ransack. I would go with either purloined or filched.
Difference is, when Gorton 'loaded up', he paid a hefty price for Eric Staal and Brendan Smith.People here killed Gorton for loading up when we were competitive.
Yzerman does stupid **** too, he’s in a position where he has to pay the rangers because he was dumb and now wants Karlsson but can’t afford him.
I can't help but get a bad feeling that we somehow get excluded from this. Like somehow Tampa will make it work because Gorton's fee for laundering is too high. I ofcourse hope for the best but this is one of those blockbusters that im really cautious about. I always thought our cap dump trade would end up being Lucic and PuljujarviIf for arguments sake there is a third team to help facilitate the deal, there’s going to be a number of moving parts to review.

We better get pieces that will make us competitive for the next decade if we keep building this monster in Tampa.
We got MSL as well.Difference is, when Gorton 'loaded up', he paid a hefty price for Eric Staal and Brendan Smith.
Yzerman is on the verge of picking up 2 #1dmen (including the best dman in the world) like its nothing.

Those those deals were under Sather's watch.

I think Toronto will have to move some of those bad contracts on D before they can flex their muscle on the forwards. I fully expect one of their young forwards to move to get young D.Tampa has a very good window for the immediate future. No getting around it.
Personally, I am not sold on what comes after. The credit card bills will come and their cap is going to be oddly tight, with a number of large contracts for aging players with various movement clauses.
I think the Rangers are aiming to be at the front of what comes after Tampa’s window shrinks.
If anything, I’m more concerned with how Boston and Toronto will look as we start to hit our window.

Gorton wasn't GM for those IIRC.The Staal trade was a blunder, but the worst part of that was AV using him as a 3rd liner. Smith was a much needed add at the time and played well for that playoffs, re-signing him was a mistake.
I was referring to Yandle and MSL. That was absolutely the right move at the time and people were mad that we gave up Duke and all those firsts.
