Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

If S. Skinner does shit the bed Management will have to eat crow. They are not in a very good spot.

They already have for two postseasons, excluding the Dallas series...which still had an .810 turd from Stu in it, but he did play great in that series. However, even Akira Schmid played great against the Rangers and a better goalie in Shesterkin in 2022 and he still found his way to the minors the following season...

Other than that, Stu imploded in three out of six playoff rounds: Vegas, Vancouver, and Florida...in the .800s in the first three games, including an .826 in Game 3 where the Oil only lost by a single goal and McDavid had two assists. An .869 would've tied it. Sure, he played fine in the next three games, when the team's chances of winning a cup were reduced to a single digit thanks in part to his collapse.

LOL if you don't think Florida let their guard down after being up 3-0. Stu's career .894 playoff save percentage is just diarrhea icing on the shit cake.

Honestly I know I joked about it earlier, but if Carolina retained on Hall to make salaries even I could see the Oilers taking Hall straight up for Kane just to get out of next year's money owed.

That's if the relationship truly has soured and they truly are trying to move him, which who the hell knows as there hasn't exactly been a lot of leaks around this team with a new GM.

Carolina and Hall have been reported to already engage into re-signing so I don't see him being an oiler as realistic

I like the addition of Frederic.
I'm pretty sure I'll like the new D they acquire also.
But ignoring our shit tandem and running them again in the post season is a recipe for a disaster 1st/2nd round exit. It's inexcusable. Year 10 of McDavid, and we still don't have a good goalie.

This org hasn't taken goaltending seriously since Chia (barf) traded for Cam Talbot.

Not sure this is fair. Holland mostly botched the job but he tried to get a goalie every single year he was here.

Some relatively big names he was after also.
His solution was Jack Campbell. Enough said.

Stuart would be a throw in for a starting goalie. Put the extra 1.6M to other area of the team
A starting goalie would be likely significantly older. Going forward with no goalie prospect seems like a bad idea.

Florida wins the cup and still goes aggressive for a top pairing D in Seth Jones.

Frederic and some bottom pairing D are all the Oilers going to add?
bit of a false dichotomy there dont you think?

the circumstances are different, jones basically demanded a trade to the florida, and they are doing LTIR shenanigans that Tkachunk's injury allows for. Meanwhile the league has been on our ass watching the kane situation since the start of the season.

Beats me, haha. They like him. He likes it in Carolina.
Seeing Hall's situation, he'd probably just wants somewhere to stay long term rather than jump from different teams like he's been doing for the last couple of years.
Oh I get why he wants it. He wasn't exactly lights out in Chicago this year and isn't playing that good in Carolina, so he wants some long-term stability.

But Carolina already talking just seems odd

They won't.

But I also don't understand the obsession with trading him away. He's a capable backup being asked to be a starter.

He's an overpaid backup who would likely be in the AHL on most other teams. How can you, a man with a "Fire Dustin Schwartz" caption, which I can't love enough, btw, defend a goalie who was likely scouted by Schwartz and coached heavily by him?

You think he can shake off those bad habits/coaching with a new coach, which the team may never get? The same bad habits that may have landed Tristan Jarry in the AHL, months after being considered for Team Canada? And don't forget that both Koskinen and Jack Campbell couldn't even find backup jobs in the league after being Schwartz-coached "starters" for this team.

Also, Stu's GSAx is almost the exact same as Pickard's and he's making 150% more than him. I don't think anyone thinks that Stu is 150% better than Pickard anymore.

The NHL is populated by better goalies in lesser roles who Schwartz and the other goalie geniuses in this org missed out on drafting and acquiring, who would thrive and succeed far more with the same opportunities Stu has received. He's regressed in each of the past two seasons and he's an absolute liability in the playoffs.

Besides, with so few games left in the season, Schwartz won't have the time to ruin whoever we get...again, so long as they aren't Jarry, 4giev, Mrazek, Grubauer, and the other goalies with a worse GSAx than this tandem.

It's wild listening to kypreos talk about how the Avs might be interested in reaquiring Rantanen before the deadline.

Elite teams wanting to get the best players? Wish that was a concept used by our organization as well.

Disappointing that we're potentially running back our horrible tandem just to watch Stuart Skinner get scored on again against with the 1st/2nd shot attempt after a failed slow lateral movement.

Seth Jones forced Chicago to eat 2.6M for 6 years? Tkachuk on LTIR allows Florida to fit Seth Jones under cap

Bob said we want a depth LHD that can play the right side who can average 17 minutes a night

These are the names I came up with that fit that critera, may have missed some so feel free to add

Soucy, Gustafsson, Brodie, Schmidt and Oleksiak. With Oleksiak I'm not positive he's played a ton on the right side

Plenty of landmines in that group

I would like to see him coached by someone other than Schwartz before tossing him aside. If he still isn’t good enough then that’s that. Whether or not you think he had anything to do with last years run, the team still made it that far with him fending the pipes.

Seems likely at this point. Backed themselves into a corner with no options.

There's upgradable options out there available. They're just too stubborn to admit that those upgrades are far more better than a Skinner/Pickard tandem. Just like how asscrack Jason Gregor tried to dispute that Blackwood wouldn't be an upgrade over either of our two goalies.
