It is a win, it is not lopsided.
We are taking on a serious chunk of debt, and even if it is not all concentrated in Ryan and easier to move, we are still backscratching so TB-OTT can get a deal done.

Hell no, we shouldn't be making cap space for others available cheap, and if Ryan is involved, either Sens deal with us directly in a $ deal, or do something measured like the above.

No, its completely lopsided.

I know I'm a few thread pages late, but I can't help myself because someone, anyone needs to say it. I'll never stop being amazed at Ranger fans who harbor any kind of negative feeling toward Ryan Callahan, a homegrown player who did everything this team asked of him. The guy put his body on the line every single night and clearly shortened his career and damaged his body to allow the team to play the style they wanted to play, shouldered more offensive responsibilities than he ever should have because of management's perpetual incompetence and inability to draft, develop, or acquire elite offensive talent, was a model citizen and admirable leader, and established himself, for as long as his health allowed, as one of the best away-from-the-puck players in the league.

For years, all this fanbase wanted was homegrown talent that bled blue. This guy exemplified that. He wanted to get paid, and guess what? He deserved to get paid. And in his first full year in Tampa, when he played with top talent, he produced.

I'll never understand how this guy gets more hate from some fans for wanting to get what he earned than the endless parade of overrated garbage this team collected like a bad addiction and overpaid before any of them had ever earned a thing wearing a Ranger jersey.

I, selfishly, would love to see Callahan back with this team, wearing the C that he earned, and setting an example for the next generation of Rangers. This team should only be so lucky if any of these prospects or young players turn out to be half the kind of Ranger that Ryan Callahan was.

But for his sake, I hope he gets to stay in Tampa. He deserves a Cup, and when healthy, was still a terrific bottom 6 role player for the Bolts.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Aside from Henrik Lundqvist, Ryan Callahan is the most important post 94 era player to put on a Rangers sweater.

Sting! Great to see you around man! How have you been?

He is off, they cannot fit it in their salary at all as it stands
He's off, but like I said he's not far off. They have $3.75 in space, a right d needs to get moved out, so even sergrachev is $1m roughly. $2m elsewhere. That's still 8 d on the roster, put one in the AHL or trade, that's another mil. Callahan LTIR will create the rest. Yeah, they need space for flexibility and another depth forward. It's not as far off as everyone makes it.

EK to Tampa is officially a done deal, now we wait on details. Hoping for a decent return

I'm around more often than not, lurking. Don't really have time to post, but I miss arguing with the old guard, yourself included! But I've been getting the hankering to share my thoughts lately, especially with the draft. I had a lot of strong opinions lol.

Wow I just had a flashback to like 2011. Welcome back to being pissed off online with the rest of us

It's a strong statement, and I respect the demonstrative confidence - but it's absolutely false.

Certainly Jagr. Gaborik's offensive run was elite for two years. (So was Nylander for that matter). McDonagh comes first as well. Zuccarello is up there. I'd put Callahan in Stepan's boat. Not a Callahan fan. Thank him for his services, big time overachiever, but never was my captain. Thankful we let him go before his body gave out at 28. Would be almost as thankful if we brought MSL behind the bench to assist Quinn's group.

You should make the time man! Glad to see you’re still around. Lots of the old gang is back around.

I wouldn’t stress too much over this.

No guarantee the Rangers are involved, and if they are, I’m not sure their cut is earth-shattering.
Their cut better be earth shattering if they've help create a super team quite honestly.
