It's hard to believe that Ryan got $7.5m per year deal. I don't even think he hit 50 points the year before he got that deal. Awful.

These last 2 years he missed about 20 games each and has 58 points in 2 years.

4 more years of this and he's already 31 years old.

Ottawa can't afford to give up any picks to dump him which means that he has to be a major discount on any EK deal. He has to be attached to any EK deal. That's essentially their only way out assuming that they have to get rid of his contract.

I'd want a lot more than just Cody Glass. We're talking 4 years at $7.25 mil per. That's $29 mil worth of cap space. How about Glass, Tuch and Colin Miller.
 
Was watching a Karlsson video on youtube to hype myself (only to be inevitably disappointed but w/e) and it cut to a clip of AV talking about how good Karlsson is.

I just closed the video as soon as I saw him.

To VGK: Erik Karlsson
To OTT: Spooner, NYR's 2019 2nd round pick, VGK's 2019 2nd round pick.
To NYR: Bobby Ryan, VGK's 2019 1st round pick (unprotected), Nikita Gusev
 
Did the Sens not get lambasted for keeping their pick in the draft last week?

If they trade Karlsson they may have handed Colorado Jack Hughes
 
John Shannon up in Canada just confirmed Larry Brooks and his report that teams can talk to Erik Karlsson about an extension. This will probably play out for a few days but it looks like he will be traded very soon along with Bobby Ryan. The Sens are just going to want the best offer possible. Vegas definitely has the youngsters and assets to make this happen, although I’d love to see what the Rangers can offer here. Rebuild or not, Erik Karlsson is not a guy who comes along very often. If he can stay healthy, he’s a Top 5 player in the NHL and right now is available. Other then Lundqvist, Chytil and Kravtsov I would trade any other combination of players and reasonable picks for him. Taking on Bobby Ryan’s contract sucks but we have the cap space right now and we can let him (Ryan) play it out for the next couple seasons and assess him when the time comes.

I do not in any way mean this rudely, but do you have proper knowledge on what it takes to make good ice great? You don't just turn the thermostat down. There is a lot that goes into it and that also includes the schedule of the building/other events, air quality (temp/humidity/dew point), refrigerant effeciency, purity of water used for the ice, and many other factors. Msg and it's schedule is not conducive for great ice and the plant is so far from the sheet in that building that there are all sort of thermal losses and delays. Msg is an entertainment building that houses a hockey team, not a hockey arena that hosts some other events. That's an important distinction.

Logic says Brooks got the scoop from the Rangers. If they weren’t it the mix, what is their value in leaking the story?

I’d like Carp to be wrong here but I don’t know. What I do know is that he’s lost a lot off off of his fastball.

I’m just going to read a book tonight.
