Staple said 8 yrs $91M. Tavares took less term and money to leave the Isles for Toronto. I still can't stop laughing about it.I wanna know what the final Islanders offer was
Arthur Staple says 1 year, 2.75Any word on the term and AAV for Filpulla?
Wait, they only offered 8/91? San Jose offered 7/91 just reported though ... Islanders had to have known that, should have at least offered the most AAV per yearStaple said 8 yrs $91M. Tavares took less term and money to leave the Isles for Toronto. I still can't stop laughing about it.
Yeah the pens suck!Jeez, I agree with Torts there. **** Rutherford and the Pens. Keep your nose in your own business.
It spells desperation! That's a terrible return for Buffalo. Aren't they trying to rebuild? You get two 30 year olds, a meh prospect and a late first round pick? Woof.
Is this the rare case of a lose- lose trade? This. Buffalo got two top 9 forwards, a decent prospect, and a bunch of lottery tickets for a top line center. ROR asking for a trade or not, that's a pretty light return.
How is getting a Top 20 center in the league without giving up your best prospects a loss here?Is this the rare case of a lose- lose trade?

Yeah, you'd think that, but it's the Isles we're talking about here. Just think, they could've put Komarov's offer towards Tavares and have been better off.Wait, they only offered 8/91? San Jose offered 7/91 just reported though ... Islanders had to have known that, should have at least offered the most AAV per year
It's not. Buffalo did not get a good return at all.How is getting a Top 20 center in the league without giving up your best prospects a loss here?

Even better, the dude only has this year and next year on his contract, and at a measly 1.9 per year. If he is an NHL regular again I bet we turn him into a 3rd round pick, maybe even a 2nd if he puts up those statsThese deals are making the addition of Matt Beleskey in the Nash deal a little sweeter. His cap hit is actually a bargain compared to quite a few of these deals that have been handed out. If he can get back to even 10g and 10-15a that’s a bargain bin addition

1st+2nd+Thompson for Hayes would be meh for me - for reference

He’s a big guy and power forwards take longer to develop. I’ve followed him for a while and he’s very noticeable on the ice, has a great shot, moves well for his size, can make plays happen etc. the points will soon follow. Can see him being a 20-25 g 40-50 point player soon. I love Lindgren (before anyone else on here too) but Thompson>>Lindgren. Thompson is a big RHS RW shoot first player. The exact kind of player we need right nowYou're right, the other pick (3rd) came from the Holden trade
I also think Thompson is a very mediocre prospect, and considering our system I would even go so far as to say I would prefer having Lindgren
Thompson with 2 points in 16 AHL games and then 27 points in 71 pro games last year (30 in AHL)
Thompson would be fighting to be in our Top 10 prospects
Jack ****ing Johnson **** off. 5 years at $3.25 mil per! WTF! He's 31 and it's been at least 5 years since he had a good season. Maybe the Penguins will get a couple good years out of him. They get more mileage out of players simply because of Crosby and Malkin.......but I can't see them not regretting this within a couple/three years and maybe even sooner.
I'm with Torts on this one and the comment that Johnson made on leaving is pathetic and classless. He didn't have a problem cashing their checks.
Eh, if he has more value than Lindgren I think it is subjective, but fair enoughHe’s a big guy and power forwards take longer to develop.
