I don’t think a veteran winger who is a known leader would be a bad guy to have around at $1m. Really it’s free depth should the Rangers decide to trade anyone too.

Wouldn't be mad at Hartnell at all.

The idea of EK65 is sweet, but much more terrifying thinking about the cost.
 
Nice to log in for UFA Day and see that the Rangers haven't done anything stupid. Also nice to see JT leave the division. Will be interesting to see what the Leafs do with Nylander, Marner and Matthews over the next 12 months

It is a dilemma. I could deal with 52 for Henrik and 30 for Georgiev but not sure it would work that way. Who knows with the new coaching regime anyway. To me Lehner is kind of a lower end starter. He's never going to take a team anywhere---a sub Talbot--a sub sub Raanta. Not sure Lehner would be very happy--going from being a starter making $4 mil per to say a backup making $1.3.

He may not have a choice.

Maybe Lou goes full Lou and gives him a big deal, but with his relationship with Hank and the work that Aliare has done with other goalies, coming here may be an attractive option for him. He's still just 26, he can get a pretty big pay day if he plays and shows well here even in a limited role.
 
Lucic coming this way? I heard something on the radio, and the Oilers are interested in Zuccarello. How may this turn out when it comes to value?

I dont want anything to do with Lucic outside of some serious overpayment with him coming back, That contract blows for his production now

Those people were clearly not paying attention. You don't send out letters and have press conferences to tell the world you are going to change how you do business, only to go against everything you said a few months later. The writing has been on the wall since before the trade deadline. We aren't buying the most expensive free agents only to waste a few of their prime years while the team undergoes a transformation during which there will be some tough times. You don't go "all in" before your time. It was clear as day for most people to see...everyone else either didn't want to believe it, or didn't believe it. But they told us everything we needed to know.

Gorton has followed through on just about everything he said the Rangers were going to do. And some posters kept insisting that the Rangers should pursue Tavares. So did the media.

I was thinking this could actually happen because the Rangers are looking for a gritty guy. I don't know much about Lucic's contract situation though.

Not sure, but I do really think that unless the Rangers can get a guy like that on the cheap, they're going to roll with Shatty, Pionk and ADA down the left. If some guys take steps forward this year amongst the youngsters, it's going to make it much easier to acquire a RHD like that. You look at the value Dumba had a year ago, versus what his value is after a 50+ point year and the difference is huge. So who knows what this team will have at it's disposal a year from now?
