He wasn't going to be on the Kings, he was a deadline deal for a playoff/Cup push. And Dean did a heart over head on that , if he really looked at the team all year, they were lazy and uninspiried on too many nights, they weren't a playoff team, nor a cUp contender.
He wanted a LTC , at 6M , DL offered a shorter term at 4.8, that wasn't going to cut it.
He'll sign wiht the Oilers and be a good veteran presence for them, they are rumored to be signing another D as well. Also, the Oilers will be over that 7 or 8 year term a very good team for a long part of that and Cup contender.
But the Kings weren't in the picture.
Pretty much the best take on the Sekera gamble I've seen.
