The issue is replacement. I think Holl and kerfoot can probably be replaced which maybe buys you a million total.

Muzzin and brodiu are difficult at this point. I don't know who else they would move

Muzzin, Holl, and Kerfoot can all be replaced. It's about finding the right mix. Muzzins cap could go to a player like palat, kerfoot and Holls cap could be used for a solid 3c and a 6 rd like Miller. May even have enough to land another 4th liner like zar or potential 3rd liner like Milano.

I think the next step is moving Holl for a prospect,

Sign a bottom 6 upgrade, and a good vet 7d.

IE: Holl to Dallas as they need RD. So Holl for a 3rd + Arcuri.
Sign one of: Jarnkrok/Dahlen/Sanford and De Haan/Hagg as a 7th d

Except we didn't get worse and they didn't significantly improve.

I know theres still moves to be made for us. But Giroux and Debrincat are big adds for ottawa. Detroit added some solid players too. We havent replaced all our losses yet.

I'd be okay with that, although I don't think it is a HUGE upgrade and now we have less for depth.

I am fine moving out players for upgrades, just haven't seen many good deals yet

The challenge is we can't afford to lose Muzzin's physicality. I love Sandin, but we really should have a couple of physical D guys in the lineup.
