Yes, Kampf has proven to be an effective 3rd line C, but one of the criteria that most teams want out of their 3rd line players, is an ability to play up in the lineup, which isn't something that Kampf can do.

These guys are all competing for bottom six spots and I am assuming we do more.

Absolutely they can. And hopefully he can actually make enough of a showing to be given that chance. I just don't see it. But I was wrong once or 1000 times before.

Wasn't there a post by someone here that talked about the difference between Murray and Campbell was the inverse... One had a good team in front and the other didn't but under lying stats showed Murray was better off the two when healthy

Jack Campbell recorded 31 wins last year while Murray recorded 5 last year. (5-12-2)

Ottawa's other goalie Forsberg was the better match for Campbell statistically on a weaker non playoff team.

blackwell over gaudette would be the only improvement between those two lines and no way in hell should we be paying a 4th liner the 1.2M he just got. and there's still time for us to sign a better 4th line centre.

Exactly. Anything can happen, and if the low cost signings were guaranteed to be great, the price tag would be much higher.

Please note - this isn't directed at you at all. But the prevailing theme in this thread is basically comparable to people complaining that they never win the lottery, but when you ask them if they bought any tickets, they laugh and say why would I do that, it's just a waste?

When people are that worked up, about a borderline player, who will have his contract terminated if he doesn't make the team, it's a sign that we are looking to complain. Malgin comes to camp, is better than others, or he goes back to Europe. It's literally a no risk situation, for a guy who appears to have improved the last two years. If he has, it helps, if he hasn't who cares. ...and this is what we are getting worked up about? LOL
