Samsonov or Campbell ? Campbell was better this year.

Our defense lost Lybushkin, didn’t add anyone. Internal growth? Maybe.

Up front they lost Mikhayev and Blackwell, probably Kase too.

Tampa lost Palat and McDonagh, so that's a huge loss.
Florida is losing everyone, so that's a huge loss.

You're listing deadline acquisitions, starting the season this year with Gio is better than last year.

Right now the depth is slightly worse up front.

They are basically the same team as last year, did people think they were last year?

I'd argue the goaltending is as good, D is better, and forward depth is slightly worse.

The forward depth is clearly not done yet.

They still need a 4C. They probably are still looking at the market for Kerfoot and add one other middle-6 type guy to replace him as well. We still could use another AAAA forward like Gaudette.

They brought in Logan Shaw on a 3 year AHL deal (which is crazy to me), but he should be someone who provides some depth and grinding into the Marlies bottom 6 to hopefully upgrade Kopacka. I hope he is not the guy we bring in for the top 6, even though he can put up some offense.

Wasn't there a post by someone here that talked about the difference between Murray and Campbell was the inverse... One had a good team in front and the other didn't but under lying stats showed Murray was better off the two when healthy

Guys like Kase, Kerfoot, Mikheyev are third line guys who could jump up and play in the second line if needed.

This year's team is missing that element right now.

TSN is just pointing out that the Leafs have generally lost pieces off the roster and it’s a crap shoot in net currently.

The division got more competitive. You can say they had a franchise season but it’s a new year.

Matthews and Marner are special, everyone knows this but as a team it’s not well constructed today.

They all expected we’d take a step back, we instead had the best season in franchise history.

I didn’t listen to them this time but most of the players who are gone this off-season did little to nothing for us in that playoff round.

The depth will barely matter if they keep going quiet. This is our core. If they don't start winning us playoff series, it won't matter who's playing 10-15 mins in the bottom 6. The amount of offence from those lines is nearly negligible on all good teams. The core guys run the show. Hopefully they take a step one of these years.

Nino, Palat can provide that... Or who knows a trade we maybe just waiting for. I think the Johnny hockey and Kadri signing will open it up a lot more

I think this is where it's important to have your Palat type. He saved the day for kucherov/point/stamkos/hedman many times.

Hyman was such a let down in this role for us. Bunting followed in his foot steps.
