1 yr $1.8M for Samsonov is fine. I think they couldn't justify the extra AAV for 2+ and be lock in to 2 question marks next season. I wanted Giroux but not at close to 3 x $6.5.

If you google off-season winners from last year a lot of people had the devils on their list after adding Hamilton, graves, Tatar and Bernier. Didn’t work out so much.
Their moves look good on paper. Will see how it plays out.

The goal changes will help them. They save money and except for a brief stretch last season Murray has been dead weight for them. Giroux will sell tickets but they are far enough away that he will be done by the time they are making their move. I think these upgrades will help their young players develop instead of getting used to being crushed. Still two more years of Zaitsev but other than him no bad money.
