I think thats actually a downgrade for the Panthers this year. Longterm it's good for them tho.
Not sure it helps them long term. Their cupboards are already pretty bare, and they gave up yet another first. I do think Tkachuk is a big upgrade on huberdeau, although he disappears in the playoffs

So flames traded for 2 guys with one year on their deals? Lol

Nice move fot Florida

Clearly they're still wanting to stay competitive .. if they re-sign Huberdeau it's worth it. Heck if they keep Weegar too that's worth it.

And they get a mid to late 1st plus a B prospect.

Worth noting the Flames have Weegar, Andersson, and Tanev on the right side now... might be a trade opportunity.

Yeah if they can keep them then its fine. But thats a lot of risk.

I guess they can trade both for futures if they cant sign them, so it'll be alright for them.

2025 first, so who knows. Could be a high pick lol

Calgary got a haul, good for them.

Wonder if they resign either of Weegar or Huberdeau.

Barkov + Tkachuk will be really interesting though

I can only imagine (I really can't) what the other bids must have looked like! Holy wow! That said, will either or both of Huberdeau and Weegar re-sign with Calgary?

Can Calgary's cap afford Kadri? I know he refused going there before, so completely hypothetical.

I recall that story out of Florida in the playoffs that they were out late a night before a game against Tampa .. maybe Hubes was involved and they wanted to send a message?

Note Florida doesn't have a 1st rounder until 2025 so it has to be that meaning they don't have a 1st round pick until 2026

This move seems like a long term preservation move to stay competitive but then you don't have anything in the cupboards to help out.

I mean Tkachuk is younger than Hubes?
It would make sense without the first, i dont think theyd have the cap to sign both Huberdeau and Weegar, so smart to get ahead.

Adding a first just feels unnecessary especially with how many they lost this year
