Dorion has been brilliant this offseason so I’m sure it will be addressed but by far the biggest need coming into the offseason was a top 4 D.

Replacing Brown with Giroux at 3M. A+

Getting Stu a winger in Debrincat for essentially magic beans. A+

Turning Murray, Forsberg, Gus into Forsberg and Talbot while reducing Cap 1.75 and dollars by 3M A+

I expect nothing short of an A grade on upgrading Zaitsev into a Top 4 RD.

In Norris's interview he talked about how important it was he spent the year in the AHL. Formenton and Batherson also both benefited from it greatly. I think its integral in development. I really hope he plays the entire year down there and maybe comes up at the end. Secondly there are always injuries. You need depth. Lastly I simy cannot wrap my head around why so many people want to trade Formenton.

No one is taking Z without a major sweetner from us. I don't see how there can be any budget left to buy him out. And I don't see how they can bring in an expensive top 4 d-man without getting rid of Zaitsev's salary.

It's a huge difference between 75M and 85M for a franchise struggling for cash. Can someone guesstimate the revenue between last season and playing in a full house (next year)?

Zaitsev tanks that package. Nullifies the second so you’re trading Formenton for the d man in terms of value. Don’t think that gets us close to someone that’s actually good.

Zaitsev is owed $7m i real dollars over the next 2 seasons, average of $3.5m with a cap hit of $4.5m per season. That has Arizona and/or Chicago written all over it. Likely to cost a 2nd round pick. Oh well.

We have an excellent shot at a Cup, no team in the East scares me, we can beat anyone in a 7 game series.

If the PP gets hot in the playoffs we could easily get to the finals and the Western teams aren’t scary either

WelL I’ve never LOVED formenton. I think 3LW is perfect for him so great. But it sa position that can be filled and replaced without killing the team. But my bias aside he’s just the piece I would be willing to give up to get a legit top 4 maybe top pair guy. I wouldn’t give formenton for any deal that doesn’t bring that back.
