When you're contracting you pay 12.5% small business tax. From there, your taxes are based on your draw, assuming you pay out in dividends. The dividends are grossed up to account for the lower tax rates, with the intent that it is relatively neutral.I make more than double contracting with a couple GC departments than I did as a federal public servant but my taxes are only a couple grand higher now. System is definitely rigged.
Running tickets through the business is only worth it if you're willing to lie on your taxes or are actually are bringing clients to the games, in theory you should only be claiming the games you brought clients to (or gave to employees). Even then, it's only a deduction of 50% of their value. I think some people either think it's a tax credit which would make a much bigger impact or think you can write off the entire ticket.Yes, there advantages to contracting. They're not as significant as many perceive them to be. A perfect example of that is my Sens tickets. I don't run them thru my business. The marginal benefit simply isn't worth the hassle. That's the advice of my accountant. Sure, lots do it. Get audited and you're probably fu$ked.
Don't most people that get rich just wait for their parents to die?Get Rich or Die Tryin' - 50 Cent (Sometime in the early 2000's)
50 cent was poor and from the Ghetto and was shot 9 times before he got rich.Don't most people that get rich just wait for their parents to die?
Hmmmm. How many shots would one need to get rich if they are from a middle class suburb?50 cent was poor and from the Ghetto and was shot 9 times before he got rich.
The Golden Age of hip hop is over, that avenue to wealth has closed.50 cent was poor and from the Ghetto and was shot 9 times before he got rich.
I love those one in a million feel good stories. It's just too bad he forgot how to make a decent song after that one album he had made for him.50 cent was poor and from the Ghetto and was shot 9 times before he got rich.
Invest into lithium stocks.I mean I think a lot of stocks are going to bottom out and you'll likely make money on most things so I'm not going to poo poo your opinion at all. I however am all about that BTC and I will be taking a position soon in some other cryptos hoping I can officially retire from being retired by 2025.
I don’t do tickets through my business. The biggest advantages are my car expenses and I plan vacations around conferences that I pay for and rarely attend. I’ve done 7 Euro vacations and many US vacations which I fully expensed. I have no kids and “employ” my wife so the business pays for her too. When you're contracting you pay 12.5% small business tax. The historic advantage was the retained earnings. The Trudeau government took action in 2018 to eliminate that advantage. I had to restructure my ownership because of it.
I've contracted for decades. There's a shit ton of shady accountants that do a shit ton of things that put their clients at risk. I know. I had such an accountant. He passed away. I moved my business to a large reputable accounting firm and the difference was pretty significant in how they changed my tax returns and how it impacted me.

Chychrun in, Zaitsev out with some futures (not including Pinto or Sanderson) please. With the Alex Formenton situation looming, I’d rather not lose Greig either but you’ve gotta give to get. Make it happen Pierre.
A lot depends on Sanderson imo, I'm personally very high on him and think that swings things quite a bit. I think he finishes the season as our 2nd best defender, and if that's the case, a top3 o Chabot, Sanderson, Zub is probably above average.Looking at the pairings on paper, we truly still have a bottom-10, maybe even bottom 5 defense corps. I continue to believe all those signings at forward will mean little if they go into this year with no real second pairing.
No way it’s bottom 5 but I think bottom 10 is fair as of now. I think the potential is there for the group to be average but I need to see how the Sanderson Hamonic pair perform. I like our top pair and I’d like a Brannstrom Holden bottom pair.Looking at the pairings on paper, we truly still have a bottom-10, maybe even bottom 5 defense corps. The bottom three boils down to what we can expect from Hamonic, Brannstrom, Holden and Zaitsev. All 4 are adequate 3rd pair options at minimum imo. If any of them can prove to be an average #4, I think we're all right.
So Chychrun has a wrist injury and is not cleared to shoot pucks yet. He also had bone spurs taken out of his ankle over the summer.
It has to be a big concern considering the asking price. When is this dude not injured.
Has missed an average of 30% of his teams' games over his 6 season career, and he hasn't even hit double digits in playoff games.
Would his body even survive the physicality of post-season play?
Yeah, I get the hesitancy to jump on the Sanderson bandwagon so quick. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with him though if that's your expectation.I have no problem with our options for the bottom pairing, but unless we bring in a true #3 guy to play with Sanderson or whoever on the 2nd pairing, we're going to have problems winning games.
I just don't see Sanderson being able to lead a 2nd pairing until next season.
I think the moment Brown stated that he was going to test free agency, the writing was on the wall. While the return was underwhelming at the time, it makes a lot more sense now that we’ve seen how much cap space is valued right now.I find it weird we traded brown before we had formenton issues worked out. Why didnt we wait till everything was resolved before shipping him.
I think for this yr a Sanderson - Hamonic tandem will be fine. Let's not forget that both Holden & Hamonic are UFAs & both could be moved by the TDL or not re-signed. Of the two Hamonic IMO has the best chance of being re-signed if he has a good yr or we haven't been able to trade for a legit top 4 RD. I also think they will roll with Holden, Brannstrom & Zaitsev on the 3rd pairing, but at some point this season I expect them to get JBD &/or Thomson on this team.A lot depends on Sanderson imo, I'm personally very high on him and think that swings things quite a bit.
