Bring back Chara!

Honestly though, Stone might make sense if we move Zaitsev and can't land a top 4 guy via trade.

As for the forwards, I'm a little surprised Neal is still playing, no interest there, which Ritchie are we talking about? I'd pass either way.
Stone jumped out at me too because I was all for uniting the bros years ago, but is he an upgrade on anyone at this point?

Not sure who those PTO options could be but here are a list of some of the UFAs still on the market:

D-Men
PK Subban, Anton Stralman, Danny Dekeyser, Calvin De Haan, Ryan Murray, Scott Harrington, Kris Russell, Nathan Belaulieu, Keith Yandle, Ben Harpur, Zdeno Chara, Michael Stone,

Forwards
Brett Connolly, Antoine Roussel, Rocco Grimaldi, Zach Aston-Reese, Sonny Milano, Tyler Motte, Brandon Sutter, Evan Rodrigues, Brett Ritchie, Tyler Ennis, Sam Steel, Sam Gagner, Derek Brassard, Jimmy Vesey, Matthew Strome, Kole Sherwood, Alex Galchenyuk, Brian Boyle, Michael Dal Colle, James Neal, Evgeny Svechnikov, Zac Rinaldo,, Jonathan Dahlen, Daniel Sprong

On the back end it seems like a lot of those players could be options.

Up front, given the Sens style of play and the fact that the openings would be for bottom six forward roles, I could see Roussel, Ritchie or Neal being options. Ennis has the Sens connection so he could be an option. Galchenyuk and Sherwood had a stint with the Sens organization so I am not sure if they would want to give them another look. Dal Colle has the DJ Smith connection. Then with Milano, Steel, Sprong and Svechnikov they are former high picks so they could be reclamation options but I am not sure if they are well suited for depth roles.

I'd be surprised if they haven't sent De Haan one.

I think it would be really insulting to offer Ennis one. The senators know exactly who he is. Give him a contract or don't.

I don't understand, NHL players want luxury, designer clothes, cars, 5 star restaurants, etc. Yet like every single NHLer spends the off-season on a boat in cottage country with nothing and no one around.
Yeah, but have you seen their luxury designer 5 star cottages?

34 is quite young. You can still
Enjoy fast cars and good food at 34.

Im
Not denying that there is a preference. But your examples take a little too far lol. Have you been to some of these non Canadian nhl cities? They’re crap.
Heck, you can still enjoy fancy cars and good food until you die!

Dorion said teams often to PTOs as favours for agents/players. In theory if Ennis doesn’t get any offers before camp starts, it would probably benefit him rather than insult him. Dorion also said they’re not going to do that this year so I’d be surprised to see him in camp.

You’re not totally wrong, but Kovalev, Gonchar, and Dadonov were all among the bigger fish when they signed here. Honestly, those 6 guys might put us at or at least near the top of Canadian team UFA signings in the cap era.
All these guys are Russian, I hope we can keep up the trend of signing notable Russian UFAs. I'd love Tarasenko but will also take Orlov on a cheap deal.

When I grew up we had a cottage at the lake. No running water. Outhouse toilet. No phones. No TV. No AC. Big wood stove in kitchen.
Hah, look at Richie Rich here! You had one? We rented one of those a couple of times!

Actually ours had flush toilets… fair you win :p

Sure, but Russian UFAs are still UFAs, no reason to leave them off the list.

Tarasenko could be a reasonable option if Cat decides he won’t sign long term. Don’t see a fit otherwise. He’s not 34 and probably likes Gucci bags, though so forget it!

Is there any better existence?

I would miss my home theatre but thats about it.
We’re getting a little off-topic, but running water and flushing toilets in particular would definitely enhance my experience.

As far as PTOs go De Haan seems to make sense. And as a Carp guy he’s surely seen an outhouse or two.

I think Ritchie could be a decent option. He would be a kind of 13th forward for us. With the Sens parting ways with Josh Brown last year there is a spot open for an enforcer type of player. I am not sure if they go that route but they didn't like having Stützle get roughed up last year and ended up calling up Sabourin. Giving a PTO to Ritchie could create some competition for that role. He isn't as much of an enforcer as Sabourin but he has had some pretty good tilts at the NHL level and has a fair amount of NHL experience, he also beat Josh Brown in that fight last year. He is a big body, he is physical and he has ok speed. He would fit the Sens style of play. I think he could be worth a PTO.

If you can afford a cottage in 2022 you can afford a home theatre for your cottage
Alright you're both right. I guess its mostly the other humans and the concrete jungles we live in that I'd like to avoid.

I poorly worded my post, but I want us to sign UFAs, doesn't matter to me if they're russian!

Just pointing out it'd be cool to sign a big Russian name since we've done so in the past!

Interesting comments by Dorion in regards to the defense. He mentioned that Chabot, Zub, Hamonic and Holden are locks but that everyone else is battling for a spot. That is "tough decisions needs to be made on our back end, don't worry tough decisions will be made"

He mentioned that is Lassi Thomson, or JBD are one of the top six d men they will be on the team. If Jacob Larsson, Kristian Rubins or Dillon Heatherington are one of the best 6 d men, they are in. That if Sanderson isn't one of the top 6 then he won't be staying around as the 7th d man.

So from the sounds of it Brannstrom and Zaitsev aren't locks to make the team and could conceivably be cut.

They would like to add a top 4 d via trade but they are comfortable with their roster if they don't do that.

With his comments about offering players PTOs it seems like a few d men could be offered them and given a realistic shot to make the team. Based on the list I provided before the d options for PTO are:
PK Subban, Anton Stralman, Danny Dekeyser, Calvin De Haan, Ryan Murray, Scott Harrington, Kris Russell, Nathan Beaulieu, Keith Yandle, Ben Harpur, Zdeno Chara and Michael Stone.

We could possibly narrow that list down to Subban, Stralman, Dekeyser, De Haan, Beaulieu and Chara. Maybe one of two of them could have been offered a PTO by the Sens and it is just up to them if they want to go that route. Then they will be given a realistic chance to take one of the roster spots.
