Tkachuk - Norris - DeBrincat
Stutzle - Pinto - Giroux
Joseph - Greig - Batherson
Formenton - Kastelic - Watson/Kelly

- Watson, Holden & Hamonic are all UFAs & could be moved by the TDL
- Gambrell could be waived & play in Belleville
- buy out Zaitsev
- sign UFA Klingberg

Chabot - Zub
Sanderson - Klingberg/JBD
Holden - Hamonic/Brann/Thomson

Forsberg - Talbot/Sogaard

- Klingberg could eventually be replaced by either JBD or Thomson.
- IMO Kleven & Roger will eventually be the 3rd pairing & bring some size & grit to the D after Holden & Hamonic are gone.
- they should also have lots of depth options in Sokolov, Jarventie, Ostapchuk, Boucher, O'Neill, Nordberg, Romeo, Petersson & Reidler.
No.... I want Timmy at centre

... and Greig is not going to be playing C in the NHL.

I don't know why people are putting Pinto and Stutzle on the wing.
Greig will be hard pressed to play center for us with Stu, Norris and Pinto already in those slots, but I think he has the skill set to do it if there was an opening.

I think Greig could move to 3LC once Pinto prices himself out that role.

Perhaps if he develops more and gains more size/strength. But currently, to me, he looks like a LW in the NHL.

Yup, if he wants to play a big man’s game (and by all accounts it sounds like he does) he needs to get up around 190-195lbs at least. Fairly easy to do at 19-20 years old and professional athlete is your career.
If he doesn’t put the time in at the gym (and the kitchen), he will quickly run out of steam and nagging injuries will begin to set in and derail him.

Kylington should be target as a low cost option with high potential.

i think the chance for anyone to get kylington was when he was on waivers

if calgary goes full rebuild kylington is worth keeping for them, if they are contending then he is a second pairing dman for them, and he gives them the most cap flexibility as well

I would love to hear one of the following:

Top 4 RD add or
Zub signing or
Stu extension

Anything else is good but those are my top 3 (Stu would be a fool to sign now).

If Stutzle is offered the same contract as Brady he might consider it. Imagine just turning 20 and signing a 58 million dollar contract on a team that’s on the up and coming? I don’t think that will happen, but I think if Dorion started the talks, Stutzle and his agent would consider it.

Some D trade options.

1) Jake Muzzin, 33, LH/RD
- owed 6m over 2 yrs
- big, strong, physical
- cup & playoff experience
- could be available cheap
2) Nate Schmidt, 31, LH/RD
- owed 14.8m over 3 yrs
- good skater, good transition, good PP
- ample playoff experience
- could be available cheap
3) Connor Murphy, 29, RD
- owed 17.6m over 4 yrs
- big, strong, physical, prototypical DFD
- most expensive but best option
4) Tyler Myers, 32, RHD
- owed 11m over 2yrs
- big, strong skater, can defend & move the puck
- cost wouldn't be low, likely the toughest salary to accommodate.
- seems like he could take the longest to acclimate to a new system

Start at 9 million and get ready to haggle when they decide 9.5 x 8 is what they really want.
