I agree with a lot of what he says, but he's dead wrong on our bottom 6 "lacking a bit". Having a third line made up of Formy, Pinto and Joseph makes it pretty stellar imo, and we have so many good players we can give 4th line toi to.
Yah me too. I think our 3rd line is awesome. Let's see what our 4th line turns out to be, maybe:

Kelly/Crookshank/Sokolov/Greig/Gambrell Kastelic Watson

I think our 4th line is a bit of an unknown. Watson is fine in his role, but after that, Kastelic, Gambrell and Kelly are not well known commodities so I don't expect people who aren't sens focused to be very high on them.

As for the third, I think it's great but don't bemoan anyone who isn't a Sens fan for not knowing how good Pinto is.

Strange how the author boxes himself in to present his case for a top 4 d.
The obvious answer is to move Hamonic up with Chabot and play Sanderson with Zub. Then see what shakes out as the season progresses.

It would be great to add a top 4 D, but cost is the issue, but insulating Sanderson is easy, just not perfect.

It's possible we offered the same, but Anaheim was a more desired place.

Possibly, but honestly I don't see the fit for Klingberg

Anaheim's offense beyond Zegras is not impressive. They'll probably be a bottom 5 team this year unless Gibson goes back to being an elite goalie.

Not the spot you should go if you want to pump your numbers up to get a big long-term contract next offseason.

Well, maybe Klingberg values lifestyle and weather over competitiveness. Isn't California more tax friendly than Ontario for millionaires as well?

I honsetly think the best time to get a RHD would be next offseason, lots of free agents, one year makes Zaitsev much easier to move as well. If one of Thomson or Docker improves this year, we'd still be much better anyways.

It's a one year contract so weather and lifestyle isn't a big consideration.

If I had to guess I'd say we probably low balled him offering a lot less money because we can't find a taker for Zaitsev.

Probably comparable.

At this point Arizona is probably asking for the moon for Chychrun. Unless we try to pry someone like Severson from NJ, I think we go into the season with what we have and try to move Zaitsev next summer. That contract is a much bigger issue than we think.

Yeah Zaitsev for 2 years I can see why there's no suitors. But one just one year, I can see us just packaging a 2nd rounder and trading him. Either way next year's free agency looks much more promising, with UFAs like Severson, Weegar, Klingberg again lmao, and Dumba to name a few.

It isn't?

Do you spend spring break in the arctic because its only 1 week?

I feel even if we don't get another RHD, if we stay healthy, Thomson repeats and improves his chemistry with CHabot, having such a deep forward depth, and the fact Florida and Boston have clearly gotten worse in the division, we may still grab 3rd spot, or at least bare minimum finish well above .500 even if we don't make the playoffs.
