Bingo.... This "we will see who wants to be here and who goes", will cost serious coin.

But more troubling is, 16,000 asses in a 19,000 seat arena means loses... Now add the contracts.. and maybe Andlauer panics. And looks for a way to shed 5-10 M... So now, the Pinto rumour, Greig, Klevin, "Sanderson", "Zub".. all get put on the table.

And we are back in Eugene Melnyk territory.
There's been absolutely no indication this will happen. Literally the complete opposite since he got here. Just spent 950 million. Plus if they wanted to shed salary there are plenty of other salaries to deal. Absurd comment. This boards losing their minds.

I would wait till the offseason. Guys like Jason Dickinson, Evan Rodriguez ...hell even Joseph is what we need more of

I wouldn't touch the core yet. Surround them with guys with speed and play heavier
That's all they have to do. The only major decision they have to make is Chychrun or Chabot.

Need to go after Guentzel in the summer
Would become our best C and a proven winner who learned from one of the best
I think the Pens will sign him. Carter (3.125) will come off the books

Pens have a couple 3/4 liners I would not mind looking at vets Reilly Smith, Noel Acciari, Lars Eller... I think these are the types of players the Sens will be looking at. Maybe we can get one of them that doesn't cost a bundle

Just dreaming

Unlike EM in the 2010's , Andlauer still has his other business interests that are viable and making money. Consequently I really doubt MA panics in the short term as the Sens are not his bread and butter so to speak.

Without knowing the specifics of what he did (aside from his apology indicating it was alcohol related) I don't know how you can be all in. The team probably knows more than what's in the public domain, if they are comfortable with bringing him in, fine, but we're looking for vets that can be the example for the kids, the standard for personal conduct is much higher for the guys we're interested in imo than say for a vet laden team looking to bring in pieces that can help for a run.
I feel like if you didn't rape someone it's probably forgivable.

Forgivable sure, a good role model to show the kids what it takes to be a professional in this league though? That depends. He's on the tail end of his career, idk that the drive is there to be the guy that shows the kids how to play, and judging from the stories Ryan has told about him in Anaheim, idk if he really ever had the personality traits for that kind of role.

So I listen to pretty much every Coming In Hot episode and can't remember what you are referring to. But I can't vouch for Perry. I just have always been a fan of his play and what a pest he is.

Nothing bad, just Ryan saying Perry basically wouldn't talk to him until he'd "proven" himself or something to that effect, basically Perry doesn't really seem like the kind of guy to take anyone under his wing, but that was a long time ago so he may have changed.

I'm trying to find some diamond in the rough players around the league to target in the offseason.

Anyone have any thoughts on Dakota Joshua from the canucks?

UFA at the end of the season. Nucks fans seem to like his jam and PK ability, and adding points to boot.

They would have to overpay.

It took 4M to get him to Chicago. He is going to have less leverage now because so few teams have cap room for him. That isn't accounting for how whatever happened might have damaged his reputation with teams, if it did at all.

A deal with him would probably be something like league minimum base salary, and then depending on the market for him anywhere from 1M to 3M in performance bonuses based on something like 5GP or 10GP.

Or, it would be some sort of consolation like giving him 2 years of term when every other team will only go 1 year. The problem with that is it would require moving out cap, which isn't easy right now.

They can sign him to a league minimum base salary and send down other players. They can give him most of his money in soft performance bonuses (5GP, 10GP, etc).

Performance bonuses can be carried over to the next season if a team overspends. It is a loophole that is often used with 35+ players to extend the cap in the current season at the expense of losing cap the next season.
I don't think we should be signing up for bonuses that roll over into next year. Our cap situation is good next year. No point in screwing it up to salvage this wasted season

Re Perry. I'll be surprised if he signs much beyond the minimum anywhere

He will probably get league minimum, but we're unlikely to be in the conversation at league minimum if he has other offers. The only way to get him is to overpay. Chicago overpaid him to get him there. I think the situation would be similar. He could probably sign league minimum on a contender, so why come here?

Would anyone trade parker kelly at the deadline this year? I don't think i would given the likely return, but I suspect there would be takers.
He’s an AHLer that’s undersized. Only redeeming quality is his motor. Every team has guys on their farm team like him.

You have to consider that turn arounds can happen quickly in this league. There is a lot of parity. Outside of a few teams, there is a lot of movement up and down the standings each year.

With that said, I wouldn't blame them for strategically throwing in the towel and rebuilding with an aim of being good when we get a downtown arena in 15 years.

lol why on earth would he want to come to Ottawa? We are probably on the top of every player's No-Trade List, unless they are from Ottawa or have family there.
I think we need to hire a full time future coach and show serious progress before we can think of attracting anybody to come here

We have a lot of promising talent, and we definitely should be better than we have been, but the team is in disarray right now and nobody is looking at what's going on and saying I want to be in on the ground floor of that.

That said, players put in their lists back in the offseason, we were being pumped as an up and coming team that was primed to make the playoffs and would be making real noise in the near future, I'm sure lots of players would have been far more open to a move here 5 months ago when they were chosing what teams to put on their lists.

Joseph sucks again after a 20 game hot streak - trade him

What Guentzel is a winger, and when his centre has got thrown out, he is 4-12 on face offs this year for 25%.
Hie is 7th on the team with 16 face offs taken.
For comparison he’s taken a couple of more draws than Parker Kelly.

He won't be easy to trade if he sucks again for any length of time.

It's why I wouldn't blame them for flipping him if they can get a good return. He's been excellent this season and has some very enticing tools, but if you look at the entire length of his career, he's been underwhelming more than he has been anywhere close to what he showed this season.

I don't think there is any wrong answer in that kind of situation. He has shown enough that they could consider keeping him, but if their justification for moving him is that he's playing way out of line with his career-norm, that's at least an understandable perspective, even if you don't agree that he will regress back to his previous norm.
