When discussing the Jets on his podcast today, Friedman speculated about Joseph being a good fit.

Not a rumor, just his opinion.

With that said, Friedman randomly bringing up Joseph makes me think there is a possibility his name might be out there. It would be pointless for him to randomly throw out the name of a top 9 forward if he wasn't actually in play.

I get why there would be interest in Joseph, and why the sens might want to take the opportunity to sell high.

It’s hard to see them trading away a high compete level, speedy, penalty killing, Stanley cup champion (albeit in a small role) forward at this time though. He seems exactly like what we’re trying to add.

Not sure why after coming back from injury after 2 games we are talking about trading him. He has to settle in again.
Everybody was lauding him as god's gift to hockey before the injury.

He has some very useful attributes the biggest being speed.

The Jets are in win now mode so they would likely be willing to move prospects or depth pieces. If the Sens trade Joseph to the Jets maybe the Sens could target Rutger McGroarty and Logan Stanley in return. It would probably be Joseph plus something to get that return.

People need to understand that we're going to have a VERY hard time attracting free agents this summer.

We'll have plenty of cap space, since Tarasenko, Kubalik and probably Brannstrom will be off the books, but who in their right mind would want to play here?

We're already an unattractive UFA destination and the team is falling apart. Can't see anyone significant willingly coming here, even if we overpay slightly.

Joseph needs to stay and we need to add a good top 9 forward to fill out the 3rd line with him and Pinto.

Still a long way off. With a stable front office, free agents may see an opportunity.

Obviously this season is a disaster. The team will likely find a groove playing spoiler at some point in the second half and look like they may be improving going into next season.

Hope springs eternal, and if hockey ops identifies good targets I imagine there will be interest from players at the usual Canadian team free agent premium.

Ya, I don't think it's the end of the world. Players pay attention, they know what's been going on with this team for the last however many years and know this is an entirely new group.

its funny because even at the ripe age of 33 he is still a possession monster.

he would have been our best d last year and this year, not only d but most likely best player.

we are weakest at rd, crippling weakness.

this team plays like they have no gameplan and no cockiness, karlsson best trait is that he is a gameplan player who is able to ice tilt.

but yea he can do nothing for this team.
Man. Karlsson is just some guy. A guy who dogs it on a lot of defensive plays. Him being a possession monster never made any team win anything other than one playoff run.

When did he help the sharks?

literally the first year he played for them they went on a playoff run as long as the one the 2017 senators had.

but anyway winning is a team thing, everyone knows that.

In fairness, the Senators were kind of shit most of his tenure and always spent under the cap leaving some sizable holes in the roster. And the Sharks cratered almost immediately after the first run he was a part of. Now he's on a washed up Penguins team and could be considered a spring chicken next the big 3. He's generally had some bad luck as far as the state of the teams he's been on.

Don't trade joseph.

If he can improve his hands/finish by like 50% he could be a top line player.

The speed and jam he's shown this year are absolutely deadly. I dont see how you trade a player with a 200-foot game and his raw fundamentals when the guy is trending upwards.

Look at the Foligno extension as an example of what kind of overpayment would be required to get attract a top-level leader type veteran to a rebuilding and/or shit-show team.

Most of those guys want to go to contenders to chase cups or take victory laps on hometown teams.

....so both Folignos for the same price as Tank and Kubalik?

Should we bring back Connor Brown to see if he can be a reclamation project of sorts? Good veteran if it works out. Dude hasn't scored a goal since leaving Ottawa and he played very well over here.

Would be cheap, minimum risk with the contract expiring this summer. Probably still a decent PKer at the very least.

The Joseph bit from Friedman felt a bit weird, given that he's had a very good season.

I've got two takes on it.

First, I take it as Joseph's name being out there earlier in the year and Friedman just giving an opinion that he'd be good on the jets.

Second, I get cynical and connect the messaging about "wanting pros" and connecting that to Joseph's disciplining last year - and that the team want to move on. This feels less likely to me.

Thanks for answering
Tell me wich Durzi stats leads you to think he is terrible this season?
Watching him play like he is already a Sen. He’s a weak player who is lost defending the rush and turns the puck over a lot.
