Seems like we've reached the point in his career where he no longer fits the longterm plans here. Would make the most sense to trade him and recoup some sort of asset.
He hasn't fit the needs of this team since he came here, but our last GM was a boisterous idiot who backed himself into a corner and was too idk.... Proud? Blind? Stupid? to trade him or let him walk

I think Brann has been pretty good this season and is still developing in the right direction.

Our view of him is tainted by previous expectations and i feel like people underestimate how much he's slowly improved year by year. At one point I wasn't sure he was going to get out of the AHL.

Now I feel like he'll be a Lazar/Grant type guy where he'll eventually find his stride and run out a long NHL career.

Probably not here, but maybe.

I have no problem keeping him on the bottom pair for another 2 year deal at a low number. Kleven might pass him but i feel like that's okay to carry the extra body if he does.

It's not like we've got a future stud kicking down the door.

I don't think TVR has much value league wide but I could be wrong. If he does, then he is a bad example for what I meant. Maybe Sonny Milano is a better example.

The basic premise being, Washington could check a lot of boxes by trading for Tarasenko now vs waiting to see if he will sign in the off season. Ottawa could take back a bad contract to get an inflated return, and Washington gets both a long-term piece and a rental. They may not want to give up assets strictly for a rental given their position in the standings.
I'd be fine with Milano but I think the Caps would need to send more cap our way.

It's pretty sad you think you're so cool by pointing out frivolous spelling. Thanks for showing us you're superstar status.

Something big brewing, will be an exciting trade deadline for us. Goodbyes set to bring in new blood.

Tanev i think is gonna be too expensive and I don't know we would get the best Tanev. Not sure we are the place to inspire great beastly Tanev.

Staois got to make a splash though if he wants to create a legacy.
yore.

I think we'd be looking at a low pick or a similar player on an expiring deal.

Branny will round out somewhere but it won't be here.

I doubt he is moveable.
A team could trade for him and treat him like a UFA if they wanted to, but not giving him a QO. I think he'd have some value at 1M to a team looking for a bit more offence / depth for the playoffs.

Brannstrom and Kubalik both would get late picks if they were on league minimum deals and a team needed a warm body.

The issue is their cap hits are higher than what they bring and the Senators only have 2 retention spots between both of them and Tarasenko.

Both might still be on the Senators at the end of the TDL.

Yep. Brannstrom I could see moved for a late pick. A team might take a flyer is they're thin on D.

Kubalik I don't really see a playoff team trying to acquire him.

The only piece that has value is Tarasenko.

Brann doesnt have future here. I was significant advocate for the guy, but his body and game havent morphed into Spurgeon or Ellis the way I would have hoped. Not even talking impact or offense, but defensive capabilities.

It’s interesting because the expert opinion is don’t trade your 1st round picks. Vegas has had 7 1st round picks since they arrived and traded 4 and the other 3 aren’t in their lineup.

1st round picks overrated? Yep for sure

Trading 1st round picks for core pieces, signed longterm like Stone, Eichel, Barbashev, Max Pac at the time, is perfectly fine. 3 of those guys were traded for prospects the Knights had because they never traded their 1st's away.

Trading them for guys who are either unsigned, or not core members, like they did for Tatar, isn't that smart.

They have made 7 picks, traded 4 of them for core members of the current Golden Knights another a core member for 4 years, 1 of them is currently playing on their 3rd line as a 21 year old, and their only pick that isn't currently in the NHL, or been used to bring a core member in, was just drafted 32nd overall 9 months ago, and would likely be the Sens top prospect

Their 1st round picks were incredibly valuable.

Trade BOS 1st for Tanev signed 3x5
Keep Chychrun - re-sign next summer at 8 or below.
Dump JBD
Dump Forsberg - bring up Sogaard

I want a deep high end D that can withstand injuries.

I wonder if in the offseason we could trade for shesterkin. Rangers tight on cap with core pieces to resign

He is their largest core piece
Struggling heavy this year. Normally I would say he wouldn't be moved but struggling plus needing a contract extension is why I bring it up.

Would they be willing to give him 7-8 million per year after he is coming off a sub 900 save percentage year?

They'd definitely keep him through this contract at the absolute minimum.

They are going to be a competing team for the next 3 years, and have no goalies to fall back on. He's likely to be resigned by them longterm come this summer.

If he is for whatever reason available, most teams in the league would be making serious offers. Sens should definitely be one of them.

If the Rangers don't have Shesterkin, they won't be considered a competing team. He's the cog that powers their machine

Yeah I watched the Grant Fuhr documentary on Prime last night (Making CoCo). The Oilers dynasty player and staff in the doc gave him massive credit for why they were able to play the way they did and have that incredible success. It’s a good watch.
