Top 10 probably doesn’t get a bite. On the chance we climb out of the bottom, you’d have to expect the sens will make the playoffs next year right? …. Right?
Not sure where to put it, and this is admittedly a bit random, but after replacing (or re-signing Tarasenko) to play in the top 6 winger slot, and giving Pinto a new contract, there isn't as much cap space as I think some people think there is (reference to the "plenty of cap space" comments that I've seen).

That's why I think there's been discussion on moving one of Chabot/Chychrun and using the cap that is freed up to get a top 4 RD. But, its worth noting that something is lost in this situation to gain something.

This is a round about way of wondering how different this year's roster will be versus next year's roster.

In hindsight, if a draft pick over a three year span (combination of previous 2/3 years' drafts and possibly this year's draft if necessary) had been used to fill a top 6 winger slot, then we would not have needed to expend assets in trades for wingers, and would have had a lot more powder (aka cap space) to address the RD positional need.

Where did you hear that?

Found one:

Jiricek is just being a brat.

If Columbus was developing him properly he'd be playing big minutes in the AHL this season instead of getting an NHL paycheque, so he shouldn't be complaining.

For Jiricek, they would probably ask for either Pinto or our 1st round pick (assuming it settled in the top 5 range).

They were interested in Chychrun previously but I doubt he would want to go there, and they aren't giving up a top prospect for him without knowing that he wants to extend in July.

Columbus isn't going to trade Jiricek because of this little outburst.

Other than a #1 goalie, RD is probably their biggest need going forward.

It looked like they had a ton of depth at the position after signing Severson to a ridiculous and unneccesary contract, but Peeke has apparently taken a step back, Boqvist isn't the player he was hyped up to be and Ceulemans may be a bust.

He s better then all the rd rank in the top ten. He have two years of development. Staois have to go all in
I am not so certain of Jiricek being better in the long run than all the RD in the top 10 of the 2024 draft. He is probably more advanced now due to age and experience but not necessarily in the longer term.

Jarmo has messed up CBJ pretty hard, if there's a way to get Jiricek for cheap, get er done.
How about Norris for Jiricek straight up? :)

Trevor Van Riemsdyk as our defensive minded RHD? He plays pretty good minutes for the caps.

Makes 3M for two more seasons.

Send a pick or maybe Brann back?

Boston probably wouldn't trade him to a division rival but, if they WERE willing to trade Ullmark, what would you guys be willing to give up?

How can we get one of Ramus Andersen or Weegar?

Based on reports and the insane contract offers they have thrown at Lindholm and Hanifin to try to get them to stay in Calgary, a rebuild isn't on the table for the Flames.

Those guys won't move.

As good as Norris has been defensively, the rationale to move him would be to make sure we can use his capspace more effectively and hopefully someone with less health issues.

If we trade Norris for a deal involving Jiricek, I hope we can get some roster players CBJ has that are solid like Mathieu Olivier

We wish. They are re-tooling, not rebuilding and I don't think either will be made available, unfortunately. Both are just that good and they have other guys expiring like Hanifin and Tanev that'll be moved first.

Tvr would be solid

But positional we would need to move jbd somewhere. This is factoring in the probable Hamonic buyout

There is no probable Hamonic buyout, if we have 6 better D next season, he'll be our 7th.

It just makes no sense to buy him out, we need a 7th D, that will cost us at least 775, add in the 366k in buyout cap hit and you're spending more than just having him be our emergency 7th d.

Zub? Seems like a pretty direct replacement, Demelo out in 19-20, Zub in 20-21.

If he was the planned replacement why did he sit the first 9 games?

And Sensvarent allowed to have 2 x RD who can play 18-20 minutes at a decent level. Having 1 was the plan all along.

Stupid stupid stupid

Dorion still has Murray, White, Del Zotto on buyout and tons of tiebreaker players he wanted money on - he traded Demelo to make room for Del Xotoo, makes no sense

tuoid evaluation, stupid asset a management, stupid cap management. Dorion is the worst manager in this teams history

The claim was he was never replaced, planned or not. The plan may have been allow a variety of options compete for the role, but in the end, Zub clearly replaced him, planned or not.

At the time, reports were he was eased into the line due to language related reasons, it was a unique year with no preseason and limited training camp, and while I'd have gotten him into the lineup quicker, the coach makes that call for better or worse, not Dorion.

Portzline said the team told him to get his own place, he was permanent on the team, so he did, then was sent down 4 days later.

I guess that answers my question, management and coaching not at all in the same page and management just making trades and signings without any forethought.
