Wonder what kind of magic Steve would have to work to get both JJ and Robertson?
Wishful thinking, I know.

Offseason's a lot more intriguing with Brady out of the picture, that's for sure.

Forget Knies, get Nick Robertson from Toronto, and then it'll be more tempting for Jason Robertson to agree to an extension if he gets traded here. Send TML Zetterlund or a 2nd, and make it happen Staios

It is pointless to rebuild before we do something about this amateur scouting team. We all know we’re not going to get a home-run at 9th.

I have zero interest in watching us try to do so. Short-sighted? Yes, but I’m waiting for them to give me a reason not to be.
I don't know that the player the Senators draft at 9th isn't going to be a star. I can't say that with any certainty. Every year there are game changers drafted around that spot.

I do know that Mason McTavish isn't going to be a star. We have enough data to confidently say that much.

I think they should take a swing here. I would like the organization to look at this as an opportunity to do something bold, and not to bring in the Jake DeBrusk's of the world.

I like the idea of using all of 9,25 and 32 (I know we can't trade this one) at the draft. Use Bradys 8m to sign a FA (or maybe two)....could be a forward or the RD the team wants. That would leave us kind of where we were before. In need of a winger and a rd. Or two wingers. Deals still needing to be done with Bath and Spence. The farm team would look much better though. I know FA route is a tough road to take, but maybe "team is a sum of it's parts, not one player" thing.

if this team doesn't improve Brady won't be the only guys asking out

Gustafsson and Rudolph will likely be available at 9th overall, if another team really wants them and is willing to start trading good fits there could be a deal. Lol Dallas could use Daxon or Lin, just give us a deal with the 9th for Robertson being the focus. Fiala maybe? I'd rather just use the pick on the best player at that point and take our chances with another middle 6 forward signing

I only want to trade the 9th overall in a package for a legit top line guy if available, otherwise I would prefer to make the pick.

I’m skeptical about Robertson being a real possibility so kinda hard to see who else they might be targeting for the 9th. The 25th they should absolutely trade though.

When you think about it logically, we have the draft capital, the assets and now the money to get a top guy ( none of this McTavish, DeBrusk or JJ crap talk) like a legit top guy! We are in a great position!

It’s up to Staios to get er done!

I watched a ton of Utah games and that’s not someone we want at all

Unmotivated, lazy, soft player- I can see why Utah would wanna get out of that contract 1 year after signing it tbh.
If this was John Parsons from Moose Jaw we'd never hear a word about this guy, but he's German so...

Utah bought him at his highest possible value. The guy had the highest 5-on-5 on-ice shooting percentage ever recorded [14.7%] and still only managed 68 points. He's a pure rush offense guy as well, so it's no surprise that he'd struggle on a team that wanted to employ any sort of structure. He wouldn't be a fit here at all.

People would be so excited to see him traded here and then 7 months later they'd start to realize he just isn't all that good.

Top talents generally have trade protection that they will utilize to avoid having to play in a market like Ottawa.

The one genuine option might be Matthew Knies. He's the right age, he's signed long-term at a good number, there's probably some untapped upside, and he can't veto any trades.

Not sure how serious the new Leafs regime are about moving him though.
