I'm not a big fan of Brady Tkachuk the player, obviously skilled but he's...not fast. Defense is occasional.

I kinda like the return for Ottawa. They're picking at 32 no matter what, and now they have ammo and cap-space now. Not familiar with their draft prospect assets.
That’s where I’m at. Don’t love the trade from Florida’s perspective, why not use those assets for help elsewhere and see if you can get Brady for free in a couple of years?

There’s something to be said for being proactive but I guess I just don’t think that highly of Brady.

Panthers need some goalies. Wonder if Chris Patrick could trade Lindgren to the Panthers? His cap hit is only $3 million. Lindgren is younger than Andersen/Bobrovsky and in my opinion he's still a better goalie option than Skinner. Yeah I'm showing bias that Clay Stevenson needs to be the Caps backup to Thompson, but I strongly feel Lindgren's time with the Caps is done.

Panthers getting better is a problem for everyone in the East but Sens also got a whole lot weaker here.

I wouldn't hold my breath on them being able to flip those assets and acquire Robertson who needs a contract. It's still the same team that had to settle for Nick Jensen and a small plus in return for Chychrun because nobody wanted to waive their trade protection or as free agents wanted to sign there.

Friedman on NHL Network said Brady gave the Sens a list of 4 teams. Vegas, Florida, Minnesota, and Carolina.

Really, and I mean really, makes these guys look soft when their trade lists are that small. As if those are the only good teams in the league. Not really a fan of where the league's going if this becomes normal. Hopefully it remains just a team usa thing.

If I'm Ottawa I'm offersheeting or threatening to offersheet Robertson if he makes it past July 1. There's a chance this ends up being a good thing in the long run for the Sens. Brady is a good player but he's not elite.

Nothing soft about it in my opinion. Just human nature. We would all do the same. If you’re going to make a big life change like that, you would want to make sure you are going to a great situation. On top of that, you would also want to use your leverage to go play with your friends and family.

And at the end of day, all that matters is what happens on the ice. Say why you want about Brady, but he ain’t soft.

Regardless, this should lead to full NMC's becoming much harder to obtain in the future. They weren't designed with this intention.

It's not healthy for the competitive balance of the league when individual talent gets too biased towards very narrow bottlenecks like wanting to create a superteam in a no-income tax state. Morphing into the worst aspects of the NBA here.

Wild apparently had a big package on the table for Brady.

I wonder where they'll pivot to now...
