Nah it was finished the moment they signed Nieto. Dubas spent days on that contract and didnt have time for anyone else.
It's easier to construct a good bottom 6 via trades (unless you are Hextall) than it is to land an elite talent. Goalie is a concern for sure, so we shall see how that is addressed, but I'd rather land an elite defenseman than pay a goalie top dollar.

The issue isn’t signing Nieto. The issue is the fact he is considered an essential sign. He’s not young, he doesn’t do anything great, etc. if you are crafting a team out of identity what does Nieto bring?

I mean the Reilly Smith trade was slick but to be fair, prices are all over the f***ing place right now in the NHL. Feels like it's hard to get a good read on anything. I'm seriously f***ing out when the Jarry re-up is announced though.

Exactly. People will be complaining about him by January. Same crowd criticizing my takes said Jeff Carter was fair value and a great signing now bitch about him every day exactly as I predicted.
Pens will be on what network next year anyway. ATT is done and remind me how the boston beenies will have Pens games and get close to 40 million to do so. We may be better off not watching this Sullivan roster get hammered. You ever hear a coach say we out finessed them.

We really let Zucker walk to sign a 1 year deal in Arizona? I have a hard time believing they even made him an offer if that's what he signed for.
Why are we waiting on Jarry? We could’ve signed Brossoint and some other goalie…anything we sign would be the equivalent
