I'd laugh my ass off if the Pens were just the 3rd team in the EK deal. You guys would be funny as hell posting on this board.

Also, gotta give Dubas some credit for trying. It looks like he's definitely enacting a different plan for the WBS.

Also, giving Sullivan all the old toys he craves, and will hang himself for it.

Is it Dubas or...Spezza?

As for Karlsson; I don't see any risk. Era's coming to a close, playoff streak is done. The only thing left is to try and be entertaining as things wind down with Sid's career.

I do think there is a "risk" there but it's not a risk I particularly give a shit about. The risk is Karlsson being injury prone and not worth what you paid for him. But trading Ty Smith and 2 1sts for Karlsson isn't going to cripple the team long-term, so who gives a shit?

Like I said above, I think it's more likely that they don't get the value out of Karlsson that they're going to be paying for him, but doing that isn't going to really have any demonstrable impact on the team long-term. You'll have some Penguins fans bitch about "we overpaid for Karlsson!" in 4 years as the team is dogshit regardless.

Trading for Karlsson today isn't like trading for Brassard in 2018, where striking out on Brassard had major impacts of them not contending after 2018.

I don't even know if it's gonna be that expensive to land him since he's already demanded a trade and has said Pittsburgh is a preferred destination. Feels like the Phil situation playing out again. Still skeptical it gets done because of how many things need to go right, but when the deal's finished, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Granlund, Petry, lotto protected 1st in 2024, Pickering/Smith/whatever loser prospect they want, 3rd in 2024 or something. Probably need a third team for Petry, which may be the hold up.

Then why did his goal count drop by 14 when he left Kane?
Kane's hip was f***ed this year. He needed surgery a long time ago. I wouldn't read too much into his output.
Other teams are reading a lot into his output, considering he remains unsigned.

What is the highest paid blue line in the salary cap era?
The Canes are at 29M. They'll be around 25M after Pesce leaves. Add Karlsson and you're at like 33M?

Is this really what they're doing?

Sharks had 26m tied up to just 3 defenseman when they had all 3 of Burns, EK, and Vlasic.
