San Jose would have to be dumb to make that decision. Karlsson is absolutely not going to have more value going forward than he has right now. It would be a major mismanagement of assets to not cash in on him now.

Players go for premiums at the deadline. They're probably looking at an offer of Granlund, Pickering, a 2024 1st and Ty Smith and having to retain $3M and uhh...not feeling overwhelmed.

And if Karlsson doesn't repeat his 2022-2023 season and is only just what he was in years before that, he has no value.

He's a cap dump if he's not performing at Norris levels. They'd get nothing back for him but bad contracts and dead cap space if they move him while he's just a good player. Even if you retain him down to $7.5 million or so, how much value does he have if he's an injury prone 33 year old OFD that only will give you 40 points in 60 games over a season? Oh yeah, he also has a full NMC so he can pick the location he goes to.

Pesce is going to be... Going, Going, Gone with a trade... Like Kent Derdivanis use to call homeruns for the Pirates..

Good point, but man does this pursuit of him feel risky. I guess is SJ retains he gets easier to trade down the line.

I think the Hurricanes are going to trade Pesce to fit in Tarasenko and DeAngelo tbh
We hope b/c that would leave it to basically 1team and would very likely come here in a more favorable move.

I have a good feeling about this for anyone that wants to see EK here

Just heard from a secret source Karlsson was a big Hartford Whalers fan and has strong resentment for Carolina stealing them and ending the Brass Bonanza

And no this source isn't me projecting on Karlsson

Zohorna: I'm sure the frustration levels are high, already, he isn't on the big clubs roster.

But Johnsson is.
Sully wanted him back to bury him in the minors because Z basically said he didn't get a chance here? (Not saying you're saying that) I'm just throwing out my own theories as to why this org has done some pretty strange things over the last 5 or so years. (Kapanen anyone?)
