The biggest impediment to getting Karlsson is freeing up enough cap on our end. The second is convincing him he’d rather spend the rest of his contract on struggling older wildcard team instead of a younger team that has been on the upswing.
Yeah. It'd be cool to not have $15 million tied up in Carter, JJ's buyout, Granlund, and Petry. Whoops!

Hope we can get an answer in the next 2 days. Dont see how the Canes do this with all the D they have acquired (Orlov) or are gonna acquire (Tony D)

Literally every single major hockey insider has said the Penguins are in on Karlsson. Hell, Dubas basically confirmed it himself when Rossi asked him about it.

Doesn’t it get tiring to just be constantly negative all of the time? Who knows if they pull it off, but telling people to not talk about it because your depressed negative ass wants to continue a schtick just makes the conversations on this website even worse.
A third of this board seem to have turned into SSRI zombies. Prayers up.
No don't trade our trash prospects and farm system for EK!! Lol.
I mean I would probably do it but I guarantee it won't take 2 good futures to get Karlsson. He simply has two teams who he wants to go to and who want him.

ideally you dump the lot of them.

I would be stoked to get EK for many reasons, but one that I think is under appreciated is that it would mean a radical redesign of the roster and the system to something more entertaining.

Word is they've been shopping Pesce, but he doesn't make a ton or anything. I'm sure they're also trying to make the cap work like the Pens are.

In the end, I doubt Karlsson even gets moved. Just seems like way too many moving parts for any legitimately interested parties to make it work, but who knows?

Hopefully Dubas can compete, I don’t want another great player in the division.

Granlund *and* Petry would have to be moved to make it work, imo. Unless there's heavy salary retained by SJ and then some more retained by a third team. Granlund alone wouldn't do it because Petry needs to be dealt in order to make room for Karlsson on the actual depth chart.

The Canes are arguably the hardest working team in the league, or among them, Pittsburgh... well. EK would likely have a blast playing here. I think he would have a hard time with Brindamour despite likely enjoying more success there.
