From the obsessed and pathetically excitement-starved forum that brought you "No, dude, seriously--I think Hellebuyck is gonna happen" comes the new smash hit "Guys, we're gonna get Erik Karlsson!"
Would you rather waste your time on a message board talking about fun things or spend half a decade making the same “it’s so over” posts

Pens kicked the tires but with Letang at 6 AAV and Petry at 6 as well for 2 years, Pens are good to go on RD not adding a high cost AAV RD who is just a luxury, not a necessity.

That is a horrible deal for us. Why would we trade our #1 prospect & a first for an aging defensemen? Especially considering we are no where near competing for a Cup.
Because whether we like or not, we are all in every year until Sid's contract is up. Prospects do not matter. Getting immediately better for one last cup does.

We can get prospects later.

Literally every single major hockey insider has said the Penguins are in on Karlsson. Hell, Dubas basically confirmed it himself when Rossi asked him about it.

Doesn’t it get tiring to just be constantly negative all of the time? Who knows if they pull it off, but telling people to not talk about it because your depressed negative ass wants to continue a schtick just makes the conversations on this website even worse.

You've lost your mind if you think we're giving up two pieces like that. 1st and pickering? stop it!
A Dman who scored 100? Absolutely. Let's have some fun again watching hockey. Idc about if it's smart. If it doesn't work out, well at least we had fun watching EK play with 87 and 71.

As president of the "this era's f***ing cooked, start preparing for the rebuild" club, who gives a shit about Pickering? Dude's like a C-tier, maybe B-tier prospect, that's probably a good four or five years away from challenging for an NHL spot, if he ever does.

Also, I'm not entirely sure the Pens would have to part with a king's ransom if the Sharks want to move Karlsson, and he is choosing the Pens out of teams with any serious interest.

Petry, Desmith, 1st and Pickering for EK at 8.5.

Dump Ruuta.
Nah it will not be that expensive if it were to occur.
Any scenario where Petry stays and we acquire EK?
Weird use of cap space but.. I mean.. it would be fun to just turn the dmen into RWers.

Capfriendly has us signing Ryan Shea to a 2-way deal. Youngish depth LD for WB/S. Either led the AHL in +/- or was close to the top, not gonna look it up.
He lead, scored over half a ppg in the AHL. WBS is gonna be better finally.

Hey, I hope we get him, just not giving up a ridiculous package in the process.

I'm sorry, I think you're insane if you wouldn't drive a 1st, and a B level prospect for the best Dman in hockey. I'd give them even more.

They can have DOC, Smith, anyone else they want. None of these pieces matter. POJ? Go ahead. Who cares.

100%. What are the Sharks going to do, hold a hall of fame hostage until they get the package from PIT? The Pens don't NEED to make the deal and if EK is trying to come here, the return is not going to be insane. Wouldn't count on the 2024 1st.

They don't have leverage! You don't give up the farm when the opposition has very little in the way of leverage. Geeze!

The biggest impediment to getting Karlsson is freeing up enough cap on our end. The second is convincing him he’d rather spend the rest of his contract on struggling older wildcard team instead of a younger team that has been on the upswing.

Yeah. And Ouellet and Fedun are coming back on the 2nd of 2-year deals. Maybe they add Pickering and Yager late as I don’t see them either of their WHL teams going especially deep as currently constructed.

Not a ton of prospects but Poulin is kind of in a make-or-break year and 2 young goalies between the pipes, and guys like Svej, Andonovski, Puustinen, Gruden are OK.
