I think this is about the best way to look at an EK acquisition. It would improve the entertainment value if not so much the contender value.

I don’t think there’s anyway we can become a contender unless Yager comes into camp and plays his way onto the team. Again, this is almost 100% not going to happen, ergo we are not and will not be contenders.

I feel like a Karlsson deal would look something like this:

-Penguins get Karlsson at $8.5 million
-Sharks get Petry, Granlund, Pickering and a 2024 1st while retaining $2 million on Karlsson
-Team C gets a 2025 2nd from the Penguins while retaining $1 million on Karlsson.

I think CDS and Granlund are gone in any EK65 deal. I doubt Dubas wants the third goalie to be making 1.8m. Rather sign a Jones or something for league min.

Issue is that San Jose signed Blackwood and now have Kahkonen and Blackwood as their goalies.

DeSmith gets traded but I think a Karlsson trade would only have Granlund and Petry going out most likely.

They ask us what amount of retention are we asking for.. 4 years is a long time to retain, I can’t imagine what any possible 3rd team would ask for to retain say 2 mil for 4 years.

POJ is a guy who's solid but undervalued around the NHL.
