I liked Martin Jones for a while. He's been horrible, yes. But when he was with the Sharks he was very good and its possible Benoit noticed he fell out of form. He has a good skill set, good glove hand. If he can work with him and get him to be a sub 3.00 GAA and .900+ goalie again, thats all the Rangers need
I'd ONLY want Martin Jones is if he signs for 1M

I wonder what NYR do with Lundkvist if they choose to address the 2C via free agency.

Will he be content with another half season at least in the AHL?

That's not necessarily good. This team has a cap crunch and will need to extend Laf and K'Andre next year. We need to be frugal.
I understand and agree to a point. NYR needs the funds to sign the kids next year and Trocheck doesn't really excite me. But on the other hand, why go into this upcoming season with a potential 5+ mil in unused cap space? NYR clearly need an upgrade in the middle. Who knows what happens.

I love how Kadri is now mentioned alongside Gaudreau, as if theyre even on the same planet. Utter ridiculousness. Any team that throws him a massive deal is in serious trouble.
the tie in is also that jg walking opens up a lot of cap space for the flames. word is the flames offered 11+x8 yesterday. they have money to spend now but unfortunately it will be hard to draw ufas there in part with just how shitty their building and facilities are for the players. i dont know how many of you have seen their stuff but it is worse than the local rinks we have for beer league.

to that point I dont think most people understand just how bad the flyers defense has been the past number of years since av got there. it was unbelievably bad. jones gets crushed bc he couldnt hack it as a started in sj, but i think in the right role he could be the backup here but it has to he for 1.5m or less

A good goalie coach makes a huge difference sometimes.

We've taken UDFA's, 3rd goalies, etc. on other teams and turned them into pretty good goalies.

Philly is/was on the verge of completely nuking Carter Harts career. This is a player who was a surefire #1 and potential star before he came into the league. There are teams out there who just don't know how to make adjustments to get the most out of a goalie's ability/spot bad tendencies that end up throwing them into a funk. Philly has been the hallmark of that statement for almost four decades now.

Gaudreau sounding likely for NJ. Good add for them, but that's gotta be the tiniest forward line in Hockey. When was the last time a team that small won a cup? They would get dismembered by some of the top teams...
They need to resurrect Herb Brooks to coach them.

watching some of their games teams would have two guys standing backdoor completely unchecked while 3 guys were chasing the puck around the zone and a d man just stood in the high slot. it was comical how bad it was. it was the same type of coverage we saw here for the last couple of years while av was here, so we can all relate. the difference was that those nyr teams had henke making stupid saves left and right bailing out a horrific defensive team, in phili it is/was totally unfair to put hart in the same spot. i think that torts hire is going to be VERY good for them from a structure, accountability, and culture standpoint. and regarding jones i think in right situation he is a quality backup, he could def be that here.
