Their defensive depth chart is still highly questionable.

Their situation on defense makes the Schneider move even better. He could have really made the future of that team so much better.

It's unproven but they added some great defensive prospects the past 2 drafts in the top 5. Siegenthaler is super underrated. He is gonna be a pain to play against, can anchor a 2nd pair for years to come.

NJD have Cup caliber C depth for sure and the rest of the pieces are coming together. They absolutely have the potential to win a Cup or two this decade.

There is one high end forward available right now unless you categorize Kadri as one too.

We don't need a high end forward though. We have those already. We need one of them to not play like a moron when it matters, but we have that part down.

That's not necessarily good. This team has a cap crunch and will need to extend Laf and K'Andre next year. We need to be frugal.

Trocheck isn't as versatile as Copp, but he has more pace and bite to his game. He'd be a very good addition if the terms make sense. He was fantastic in Florida until he battled some injuries and has revived his game with Carolina.

If he wants to win, there aren't many contenders left out there with cap space and a decent role available.
