I believe the Trocheck stuff. He played for Gallant, was in our division and is the type of player Drury has been targeting since he took over. A versatile player with a good 2 way game and speed with tenacity. Good at faceoffs and a true right-handed center. The opposite of Strome basically.

Can't afford Kadri, stop reading it, don't believe it. Its just for clicks guys.

Or your own development of said player. Trocheck would not be blocking Chytil if he keeps pushing. Chytil will be 23 on opening night. If he is still on the team in 3 years time, I'd expect him to supplant Trocheck and be the 2C.

The only other way you get that is if you sell off an older piece for a younger player that is still unproven (similar to the Brass for Zibanejad deal).
 
if kane did come here in the right deal i would love him in the rw of zib and kreider, he would change them so much with getting through the NZ and zib might score 60 with kane feeding him onetimers even at 5v5. kreider could play the same role he does on the pp bc kane would be dancing around with the puck most of the time. he is like a version of panarin that will actually shoot and attack the house.

he does nothing to address the panarin line, but kane would take the zib line from good to elite

I want Chytil to be that huge cystic pimple that you know is coming up and out and nothing can stop it, no matter how much you try and prevent it with a Trocheck or a Kadri.

It all comes down to AAV and term. Obviously. If it’s fair, it’s a solid deal. If not, someone else can overpay him.

To say Trocheck is not a 2C is asinine though. You may not like him stylistically or his personality for whatever reason, but he’s absolutely a 2C and it’s not debatable. Is he the best 2C in the NHL? No, but at worst he’s middle of the pack. He’s a virtual lock for 50+ points while bringing speed, forecheck, and face off ability. If he’s a 3C then Chytil is a 6C.

We all want a 24 year old 2C on a good contract with a chance to be a 1C but we need to remain on earth here. Young top 6 centers and young top pair defenseman are gold in this league. They don’t get dealt absent an absurd situation like Eichel.

more importantly the rangers obviously don't see chytil as a 2C <---- agree (sadly)

If it's Trocheck, or anyone else for that matter, please for the love of god don't hand out anymore NMC's Drury. At least none that don't expire in a few years.

Signing trocheck tells me they really like Chytil and don’t want to move him honestly. A big move like miller or kadri or Dubois would bury Chytil long term
