My counter to that is...

Which one of their forwards was?

They scored like 3 goals all series lol.
True lol but still I think it’s a fair point if we’re talking about a 6 year commitment

Also I know they’re cheap but they don’t seem worried about losing him either

Except Trocheck is good on draws and knows where the D zone is. He is most definitely a upgrade over strome.
again, as you said strome is a 3c, in my opinion trocheck is a 3c on a contender. he may be better than strome, but he isnt anything close to the elite type 2c everyone has been clamoring about and committing to him eliminates your cap options to secure an actual 2c when one shakes loose.

Big fan of Trocheck the player, but don't think I'm going to like the contract. However, without a trade, most FA C options aren't going to be the best options for long-term flexibility regardless.

what's an actual 2C?

Also, a Trochek signing probably leaves room for Laffy on PP1.

Honestly, I get the disappointment compared to some huge move, but the more I think about this, the more it makes sense.

Room for Fil on the line with Panarin if he earns it,
Gritty player, hard working, fits the culture, plays in all situaitions
Played for Gallant
Monster on Draws
Room for Laffy on PP1

All comes down to dollars and term for me, but it makes sense.

Trocheck is certainly not a 3C on a contender. He is a legit 2nd line center for any team.

right, well just bc everyone else sucked then why are we sitting here pretending that this guy will be a difference maker as a 2c here when he wasnt one at all for the canes? the only things i see are "panarin made strome good," but that also happened when panarin was an attacking player. when panarin stayed on the perimeter the line sucked, strome sucked. this whole relying on panarin to make an average player great thing sure didnt work on in the playoff run last year. trocheck is a 3c on a contender. he is a 2c on a hopeful. i would like to think we are doing more than hoping now.

Its subjective based on whether a person likes the player or not.

I personally think Trocheck is a great fit. I think he can score at a 60-70 point pace with us. He also has 4 20 goal season, compared to Strome's 1 (this year) so clearly he is a better finisher

5 × 5.2 per for Vinnie is my guess. Rangers pushing 4 yrs, Vinnie's camp pushing 6.

the 1 pm handshake at 5 yrs 25.8 mill.

The possible possession time of a line of Panarin - Trocheck - Kakko has me drooling. Plus the defensive ability of Tro/Kakko.

That line would be so fun to watch.

agree to disagree. people want kadri type players here or pld type players here as a 2c and they blow trocheck away. we are now settling on how we fill this hole rather than actually addressing it.

trocheck had 31 5v5 points this year including 11 goals in 81 games. huge difference maker for our awful 5v5 scoring

Trocheck is the only one that has the potential to come in at $5 or under with shorter years. I wonder what will happen. Should be an exciting day were all the bad decisions for the coming years are made.

EDIT: Also, Trocheck has great metrics, great speed and great in the dot. Good 2-way player too. Might be a really good fit.
Lol at anyone who thinks trocheck is getting short term and less than 5mill. 6x6 is likely

I alluded to this earlier, for me he wasn’t very visible
Definitely stood out to me, but he couldn't finish. Not sure what it game it was, but he had 2-3 chances at the door step on beautiful setups and Igor stoned him.

I'm not sure what affordable options this team does have to add a 2C, not many solutions, and I don't think you're paying these guys sub 6m/year either. Lots of desperate teams, players trying to max their return.

Nothing concrete yet but Friedman, Vince and The Fourth period are all alluding to it.
I wouldn’t mind it. Always thought Florida was dumb for trading him. If Chytil impresses and takes the next step, Trocheck can slot in at 3C as well as 2C. Plus that center depth would be nasty.
