Carolina played 68gp in 19/20 and 56gp in 20/21.

Your post is a touch disingenuous.
I dont particularly like to invest big and long term into a guy that regularly misses substantial amount of games each year and plays the style that he does. people can brush off 10 games here or there, but in your mid 20s that is actually a decent number.

I've always like Trocheck's game. I think him and Panarin will get along just fine. Hopefully his barside chats/60 match Strome so this way Panarin feels comfortable.

Did anyone here even notice trocheck in the hurricanes series other than a couple of plays?

I recall in that series this board crapping on him as being an option here this summer.

In an ideal world trocheck is a 3c on a cup contender. He isnt a bad player at all, but he is not a 2c on a contender. I have bigger hopes that drury shakes something else out or trocheck comes here at a lower dollar than rumored.

I’m all in on Trochek if we can do 5.5 x 6 or less. I think he’s a decent 2C and would be a great 3C if Chytil can take the 2C spot. Ideally, I want to commit to Chytil or trade for a young center, but I think the time to contend is now, and we need guarantees.

I actually like it because Trocheck is not necessarily married to Panarin from the start. If Chytil continues to improve he can still have a shot in the top 6. Trocheck is a VERY good 3C.

Good chance for Chytil to actually breakout if hes getting mostly offensive zone starts. Dont have to worry about him picking up the defensive slack

There isn't a year he has missed substantial games outside of one season where he broke his leg, which can happen to anyone, on any play.

The guy has missed 16 games in 5 years outside of his broken leg season otherwise.

Ryan f***ing Strome was a 3C until he played with Panarin. Let’s see what Trockeck looks like next to the bread man.

and he is still a 3c, that is why we want to replace strome with something better. that's the point i am making. you just made my point for me...

I don't love Trocheck as an add btw.

He's a good player, but not what I would have targeted and for whats going to be a semi long term commitment (Ya'll need to get out of here with the 7 year expectations, JG is probably the only one who gets one of those today.)

The injury history is overblown, but he's also not likely to hold up long term with the way he plays. Anything over 4 years is probably not a great idea.

I'll be thrilled to be able to close the Ryan Strome chapter, but I don't know that this one ends a whole lot better.

Didn’t Trockeck play in Florida when Gallant was coach?

Yes they overlapped for a bit.

Best case scenario is Trocheck is our number #3C because Fil took a leap., great scenario is he's our #2C.

Either way, would be great move.

Side note: the best part about Trocheck at a reasonable price is avoiding Copp/Strome at the same price.

I alluded to this earlier, for me he wasn’t very visible

or he has missed 15 games in the two seasons before his contract year?

and i believe the year he broke his ankle he got hurt again when he came back so all those missed games that year were not just for the ankle.

we wont agree on this so lets just leave it at that

I think people have expectations that are too high of what a 2C really looks like

Most teams (and the Rangers) can't afford to have a 1C and a 2C who also puts up 70+ points. Sometimes they get lucky with some lightning in a bottle like CO did with Kadri but realistically guys in that 50-60 point range who are versatile and come in with a contract that makes them fit into the lineup are fine and what is more realistic to expect, especially if you're strong on the wings (which is what the Rangers should be...if they're not then their drafting has been unfortunate)
