I'm really worried about Laf getting on PP1 and now. I can see whats going to happen before it happens.

Trocheck PP1; Laf and Kakko can't crack PP1 3 and 4 years in respectively, goodbye young talent

Blais going to get the second line RW over Kakko and Kravtsov

Kravtsov goes on 4th line

Also playing Cuylle and 50 goal scorer Othmann on the 4th line is peak Rongos and would be repeating past mistakes - COUGH Howden COUGH LIAS ..... Keep them as far away from this team as possible until there are legit spots for them.

The taste Gallant left in my mouth was bad by the end of last year, outcoached in every series and questionable personnel decisions. Dont forget, he still refused to give a reasonable answer for the whole Strome Kakko fiasco.

This is my nightmare.
Really concerned about the PP now, huh? Cause we didnt have Laf on PP1 this past season, and might not this season? If only our PP was considered successful anyways....hmmmmmm

My friend, there is no reason to talk yourself into a lather for some reason at this point in the offseason. That bad taste in your mouth coach led us to the ECF....despite all your worries (and lack of explanations to you).

Nightmares should be made of stronger stuff.

The best thing about every move made yesterday is that the JT Miller and Kadri discourse is dead. Especially Miller. Kadri just would have cost too much. If he goes back to Colorado, he's taking a discount.

All the things that their fanbase wanted in return for Miller. Now they're talking about moving him to Pittsburgh and the main piece of their return is John Marino. That fanbase deserves whatever shit they get from Rutherford. Marino basically a #4. It wouldn't be Hall for Larsson, but it would be pretty bad.

They deserve to be left holding the bag when they are a bubble team, lose in the 1st round, and Miller walks for nothing.

Guys I still think something has to give I can't see another year of not developing the kids right laffy Kakko Kravy and Chytll should be no where near the 3rd line and again some combo should be playing the power play and I think Kakko would be an excellent penalty killer these kids need to be pushed to succeed in the right atmosphere not left for mediocrity on the third line. Unfortunately some combonation of the above mentioned forwards will be left to dangle on 3rd line or have a short leash. There has to be something more coming. There is time yet but I can't see these young kids continuing to just stay in limbo land. Yes we are ready to win but it can't come at the price of ruining our future.
One of the Rw and Chytll may go and that's almost half someone like kanes salary (I'm not advocating for that just saying) maybe we give them one of the Rw Chytll and Jones or lundquivst and you get a Kane @50% and a young center prospect who makes nothing or they retain more for that and give us another asset that fits into our cap. I just can't see Kravy Kakko Chytll and maybe laffy not being on pp. Guess we will see. Something will happen prior to the season before there value could plummet.

The thing I like most about Chris Drury, and this is extremely rare in human beings - he understands a sunk cost. He's not afraid to admit a mistake and walk away.

What I mean is that, you can make a mistake, what it costs you now and in the past is what it is, there is no changing it. The best course of action is self evident, and sometimes it's messy. Sometimes the way you get to the best future outcome is by cutting bait and admitting your mistakes.

Perfect example of this is Nemeth. Sure, you can roast Drury for signing him to the deal he did in the first place. It didn't work out. It was a failure. All GM's will make mistakes. Instead of making it worse by not admitting the mistake, he bit the bullet and got him off the books. Onward and upward. Hope he learned his lesson.

Example number 2 is Copp. He actually helped us a lot last season, I truly believe he was a catalyst going into the post season. That being said, that 2nd line, including him, were hot garbage in the playoffs. Turns out he's not a natural center. He never won the coaches trust playing the middle. As such, Drury didn't pine over the cost of what he paid, he moved on and he found a solution.

Being quick and decisive, not letting your ego get in the way of your decisions, being adaptable and nimble - these are all the hallmarks of excellence in any field. I hope Drury continues to show that he's not afraid to admit a mistake and learn from them as well.

That Trocheck contract is structured just about as well as anyone could’ve hoped. Good job turning the NMC into a limited NTC after 3 seasons, like the flexibility.

On Gaudreau, it’s weird seeing a player leave the only team he’s ever played for and they’re good to go to a rebuilding team for less money but location matters to people. And choosing Columbus over NJ and NYI isn’t really that crazy. Columbus is a nice city, suburbs seem like a nice place to raise a family there and money will go a bit further. And sometimes “going home” means being close enough that visiting is a breeze but not so close that your family is overbearing. Being an hour flight away or a 6ish hour drive is a pretty nice sweet spot. Plus if he was a Flyers kid it’s not surprising that he wouldn’t wanna go to rivals of theirs.

There is also more to it than location etc. I bet some are sceptical to go and play for a team managed by Lou. NJ is harder to discard from my POV, but they also don’t have any core worth 10 cents. It’s youngones leading the show.

Columbus has one of the better young 1-2 punch in at center in the league. They would have been really good already if it weren’t for Torts doing an extremely poor job chasing away all players without management realizing it.

I agree on Nemeth even if I blew a fuse when we signed him, but a GM will make mistakes. I also to a large extent that was a decision stemming from Drury listening to the wrong people. For years Nemeth was an analytics darling, but he just is not a well rounded player. I wonder if whomever touted his horn is still with the organization.

But you must also keep this in the calculations, and it’s here I wonder if Drury isn’t faulting a bit.

Might have been Sakic and the picks for Georgiev were an apology for bring super wrong.

Kadri wants to say with the Avs apparently. Can the Avs even afford him at this point? Lol

They have $3.9m in cap space with 11 forwards, 8 d-men and 2 goalies.

I don't see how they make that work without moving someone. Oh BTW too, they will have Mackinnon to sign next off-season as well as Byram and Newhook are up for their RFA deals in a flat cap world. They will have Johnson and Compher possibly leaving via UFA to save some money and Mackinnon is making $6.3m already but he should get $10m+

You learn this in the ‘za biz. Dough goes bad, you chuck it. You don’t double down and bake pizzas out of bad dough. Ppl get sick and no one will buy ‘za from you again. Pack up, rebrand, re-open in a new town. ‘za 101.

Drury took one look at Nemeth this postseason and said ‘ugh, that dough’s gon bad. I got ta get it outta here before it makes my team sick.’

What's the deal with Ferland? Is he on LTIR, out for the entire season?
Bad bad bad concussion history. Might never play again

I mean Kadri doesn’t have to rush to sign anywhere if no one has money. If I was him I’d be patient right now and see what develops

Yeah, Kadri may want to come back and I'm sure the Avs do as well, but the money just isn't there for him (even with a hometown discount to an extent)

Didn't look like JG was ready to answer that first question.

Usually the 1st guy they allow questions to are complete softballs.

Was a funny look and reply.

Holy crap, has anyone looked at the Oilers cap issues?!?!

8 forwards signed
6 d-man
2 goalies

Still have:
Puljujaarvi, Yamamoto and McLeod to sign

$1.318m cap space

They may gain some of it back with Smith and Klefbom if they are on LTIR, that would be an additional $6.3m but is Klefbom 100% out for the season?
