Agent: The options are the Flames, Devils, Islanders, and Flyers.
JG: I'd rather be shot out of a cannon than sign with those teams.
Agent: Say no more.

Really concerned about the PP now, huh? Cause we didnt have Laf on PP1 this past season, and might not this season? If only our PP was considered successful anyways....hmmmmmmI'm really worried about Laf getting on PP1 and now. I can see whats going to happen before it happens.
Trocheck PP1; Laf and Kakko can't crack PP1 3 and 4 years in respectively, goodbye young talent
Blais going to get the second line RW over Kakko and Kravtsov
Kravtsov goes on 4th line
Also playing Cuylle and 50 goal scorer Othmann on the 4th line is peak Rongos and would be repeating past mistakes - COUGH Howden COUGH LIAS ..... Keep them as far away from this team as possible until there are legit spots for them.
The taste Gallant left in my mouth was bad by the end of last year, outcoached in every series and questionable personnel decisions. Dont forget, he still refused to give a reasonable answer for the whole Strome Kakko fiasco.
This is my nightmare.
Good chance we would have been.If we didn't have Panarin and tried to sign JG do you guys think we would have been successful?
Good to know and feel smug about.Good chance we would have been.
Yes.If we didn't have Panarin and tried to sign JG do you guys think we would have been successful?
Vancouver misread the market. They don't have any cap space. Vancouver signed Mikheyev yesterday. $4.75M. All of this stuff about creating cap flexibility by moving money to other teams for picks and prospects. They picked a wrong time.
100%If we didn't have Panarin and tried to sign JG do you guys think we would have been successful?
That Trocheck contract is structured just about as well as anyone could’ve hoped. Good job turning the NMC into a limited NTC after 3 seasons, like the flexibility.
On Gaudreau, it’s weird seeing a player leave the only team he’s ever played for and they’re good to go to a rebuilding team for less money but location matters to people. And choosing Columbus over NJ and NYI isn’t really that crazy. Columbus is a nice city, suburbs seem like a nice place to raise a family there and money will go a bit further. And sometimes “going home” means being close enough that visiting is a breeze but not so close that your family is overbearing. Being an hour flight away or a 6ish hour drive is a pretty nice sweet spot. Plus if he was a Flyers kid it’s not surprising that he wouldn’t wanna go to rivals of theirs.
The thing I like most about Chris Drury, and this is extremely rare in human beings - he understands a sunk cost. He's not afraid to admit a mistake and walk away.
What I mean is that, you can make a mistake, what it costs you now and in the past is what it is, there is no changing it. The best course of action is self evident, and sometimes it's messy. Sometimes the way you get to the best future outcome is by cutting bait and admitting your mistakes.
Perfect example of this is Nemeth. Sure, you can roast Drury for signing him to the deal he did in the first place. It didn't work out. It was a failure. All GM's will make mistakes. Instead of making it worse by not admitting the mistake, he bit the bullet and got him off the books. Onward and upward. Hope he learned his lesson.
Example number 2 is Copp. He actually helped us a lot last season, I truly believe he was a catalyst going into the post season. That being said, that 2nd line, including him, were hot garbage in the playoffs. Turns out he's not a natural center. He never won the coaches trust playing the middle. As such, Drury didn't pine over the cost of what he paid, he moved on and he found a solution.
Being quick and decisive, not letting your ego get in the way of your decisions, being adaptable and nimble - these are all the hallmarks of experts in any field. I hope Drury continues to show that he's not afraid to admit a mistake and learn from them as well.
Might have been Sakic and the picks for Georgiev were an apology for bring super wrong.I agree on Nemeth even if I blew a fuse when we signed him, but a GM will make mistakes. I also to a large extent that was a decision stemming from Drury listening to the wrong people. For years Nemeth was an analytics darling, but he just is not a well rounded player. I wonder if whomever touted his horn is still with the organization.
But you must also keep this in the calculations, and it’s here I wonder if Drury isn’t faulting a bit.
Kadri wants to say with the Avs apparently. Can the Avs even afford him at this point? Lol
You learn this in the ‘za biz. Dough goes bad, you chuck it. You don’t double down and bake pizzas out of bad dough. Ppl get sick and no one will buy ‘za from you again. Pack up, rebrand, re-open in a new town. ‘za 101.The thing I like most about Chris Drury, and this is extremely rare in human beings - he understands a sunk cost. Bad bad bad concussion history. Might never play againWhat's the deal with Ferland? Is he on LTIR, out for the entire season?
I mean Kadri doesn’t have to rush to sign anywhere if no one has money. If I was him I’d be patient right now and see what developsKadri wants to stay with the Avs apparently. Can the Avs even afford him at this point? Lol

Yeah, Kadri may want to come back and I'm sure the Avs do as well, but the money just isn't there for him (even with a hometown discount to an extent)They have $3.9m in cap space with 11 forwards, 8 d-men and 2 goalies.
I don't see how they make that work without moving someone. Oh BTW too, they will have Mackinnon to sign next off-season as well as Byram and Newhook are up for their RFA deals in a flat cap world. They will have Johnson and Compher possibly leaving via UFA to save some money and Mackinnon is making $6.3m already but he should get $10m+
