This was in a discussion about Cossa, where I said Husso wasn’t good, and Detroit fans were praying Cossa pans out. This poster responded by implying Cossa was just as good as Fleury/Gustavsson, Bobrovsky, Cam Talbot, Joonas Korpisalo.

During the season in question yes he was.

Then he’s been awful since being injured.

Apparently you can predict injuries? Aren’t you the same guy who said Guhle> Seider?

Good move by Yzerman. But confused on Anaheim and will stick to my initial guess that Gibson is next.

Gibson being traded seems to be independent at this point. At face value the Gulls needed a goalie with Clang hurt and Dansk called up to replace Gibson. I suppose they could have tried to sign some other UFA vet goalie off the scrap heap to fill in the AHL spot. But pickings are pretty slim at this time of year.

NHL: Dostal - Dansk - Gibson (injured)
AHL: Husso - Buteyets - Clang (injured) - Suchanek (injured)

If/when Gibson returns next week:

NHL: Dostal-Gibson
AHL: Husso-Dansk
ECHL: Buteyets

Then they can figure it out later if they swap Gibson and whether they end up having to take a goalie back.

heavy weight contender wants to add but needs cap + they have a decent vet on an expiring at the position they want to improve at + detroit takes the vet along with a pick = helps the contender and gets detroit a pick plus a vet whom could improve roster for rest of season

So we're basically copying Vancouver who drafted Elias Pettersson when they already had Elias Pettersson, and now we traded for Future Considerations when we already had Future Considerations from the Walman giveaway.

It’s just Anaheim returning the future considerations from the Doug Houda trade in October of 1998.

Only took 26+ years!!!

More likely, and San Jose might be next, it’s the kickback from the Robbie Fabbri trade.

There comes a point where you have to compete, he has shown in the past he's willing to make a splash. Clearing 3.6 mil for this season only, days before the deadline tells me he's ready to make a significant move if it presents itself.

If the Schenns are indeed available, I could see Detroit going in that direction.

Fighting for a wildcard spot isn't something GMs spend assets on, and Yzerman is preaching patience. So I do not expect any significant TDL acquisitions. Saving a couple of cool million in cash isn't bad though.

Usually we do see teams fighting for the last few spots look to add. The team playing excellent since the coaching change you have to give the players the vote of confidence and look to be a buyer. They have earned it.

So Anaheim took a 4+m goalie off of Detroits hands because “AHL Depth”. Hard to believe Seravalli that there isn’t more to this.

Guess Verbeek could just be doing Yzerman a favour.

Deal doesn’t make much sense unless Gibson is being moved to me.
