The Carpenter signing is a good one. He's eerily similar to a guy like Bellemare who has had a good career as well. Low cost, solid 4th line role player.

We'd be asking a LOT from Kravtsov to jump to 1RW after playing in the KHL. Also would be asking for a lot from Blais to come back and be a 2RW after a torn ACL.

I'm not sure Gallant does that. Goodrow will play more. I'd bet he is on the 3rd line and Blais starts on the 4th line. Goodrow-Chytil-Krav is my thought on the 3rd line. Carpenter plays 4C just for PK purposes. Reaves/Hunt swap in an out depending the team. Lafreniere/Kakko are RW1 and RW2, could flip flop either.

the only issue I have with having this many players... is that Gallant will go the vet route or choose the players he 'knows' better... compared to actually playing the 'best talent'.

While I agree I believe it could have been much worse than it is right now. Drury has done about as well as I expected in terms of removing annoying Gallant toys and at least replacing them with new Gallant toys that might be less annoying.

Yes they were teammates briefly, but Carpenter was horrible in Vegas. Hate to be that guy, but I watched him play game in/game out long enough to know he doesn't add much of anything to the lineup. He is literally the McKegg replacement...hopefully he doesn't see much time here.

He has limited options. The worst he could do is put Goodrow and Blais both in the top 9. Which would absolutely be a Gallant thing to do.

I don't know. They gave up on Dach who was underwhelming. Why would they want Kakko who has also been underwhelming? Although he has played a lot less than Dach...which is why I want GG to give him real minutes this season.

If Gallant doesn't give our kids more TOI and more pp time next season I'm starting to think he's not the right coach. I love what he did last season, but he has to give our younglings a real chance.

Also, is it absolutely necessary to sign Carpenter and Reeves? We can’t find a defensively responsible C, or a tough guy in Hartford? Why do we bother drafting after the 2nd round?

I really hope they do leave the D alone now, Jones will be a RFA by next year, it's probably time to see what he can do at least a little bit. I am pretty confident he'll eventually beat out Hajek, and that may also allow for Schneider to not feel he needs to make the zone exits.

If by the deadline something does not work there they can probably just re-rent Braun again.
