Devils signed Palat, he’ll be good for them. Idk if he’s really a needle mover though but he would be a good fit riding shotgun with Hughes. He’s 31 though with a lot of miles on him, could see him breaking down physically.

7 year deals should be reserved for high end players. I understand that it was to get his AAV down. But Trocheck isn't putting the Rangers over the top into Colorado and Tampa territory. For 7 years? That's the best we could do to solve the center position?

On top of that, the Nemeth disaster. We can poo poo the loss of picks all we want that comes back to bite you long term. It's going to be two 2nd round picks just to get rid of Nemeth. That's awful.

I really don't get the vitriol for Strome.

Was he a frustrating player? Sure, at times. But this is someone we picked off the scrap heap that ended up playing 2C minutes for us for 4 years while we rebuilt. At the end of the day, he wasn't a good enough 2C for us to contend with, but it's not like I personally hate him for it.

By all accounts, he was the player who did the most to keep the team socially connected during the Covid shutdown. He never threw any of his teammates under the bus. Always took personal responsibility for his failings. He wore a letter, so he obviously had the respect of his teammates. He was also pretty much our only top-6er that would drop the gloves when needed, even though that isn't really a part of his game.

I wish him well in Anaheim. This fanbase loves to hate on guys being asked to play above their heads. I didn't want him back as our 2C either, but ffs, have some perspective.

that Gaudreau was signing in philly.. I wan't nothing more than for NJ, NYI, and PHI to fail miserably every season... but why would Gaudreau go to CLB of all places, especially for less $?

With him and Gudbranson on board they have some interesting parts. They're definitely a team to watch out for.

NJ added Pallat. Overpaid IMO. I like Trocheck more than Pallat. But NJ center depth is way better than ours.

Motte is a victim of poor timing. The cap crunch has saturated the market with unqualified young players with more upside. His best bet at this point is probably signing a 2-year deal on the cheap to get out from under the flat cap, and then trying to get his big deal. That's probably a pill he's not ready to swallow quite yet, though.

I'm ready for the season to start with that team. Excited to have Sammy Blais back, I think he will have a good year for us. Is it good enough to beat Tampa, Colorado, Edmonton, Florida? I'm not so sure. It's like moneyball centers. Not one, except for Zibanejad, stack up against other top teams' centers. They're still going to play match up against Zibanejad. And we saw what happened when they do that, our offense gets completely shut down. I don't think Trocheck beats that situation for us. If we had PLD then teams are trying to shut down two 70+ point centers with size.
