If Nylander's value has taken such a big hit then let's rehab his value then trade him to fill a need. I don't think GMs are as dumb as the majority of HFBoards postes are though and Nylander would still command a lot in a trade.
I think most people around here say Nylander value is down because they want to hate on the guy or to just hate on Toronto. I could see GM’s trying to fleece Dubas as any GM does to begin with (all GM’s try to fleece each other) but they are smart enough to know how talented he is and what they would be acquiring.

hopefully Nylander lights it up in the Worlds, other GM's forget that they're playing on Lake Superior not Lake Erie and a trade for a quality RHD is offered and accepted.

I actually don't think the Spurgeon + Greenway + Conditional first for Nylander is off... The conditional being if Spurgeon doesn't resign with us.... big risk, but...

But Dubas o all people isnt oing to move a 22 year old for a package where th main piece is a 30 year old.

You could probably get Spurgeon using lesser assets anyways

Minnesota doesn't need centers, but you could probably do Spurgeon for Kadri.

Minnesota may even need to add, although Kadri does have the down season against him so maybe not. We'd definitely not need to add.

Players value take hits on forums and other places that fans discuss things. In the real GM world, his value wouldn't have fallen.

It may have actually gone up, with him showing that he can play C in the NHL, after Kadri was suspended.

People forget that Nylander Is only paid 700k this year as of July 2. That’s huge value for most teams. Especially non cap teams. But even ones that spend to the cap. I mean only a few markets print money like the leafs

Way off the mark value wise on this one. No team is moving a top 5 pick for a soon to be 29 year old coming off an unproductive season to boot
JUst a hottake. Hawks is in a win now mode and Kadri is someone that could help them for a few more years on a very good contract.

2 Creative pass first wingers: Bracco/Marner
2 top C's: Tavares/Matthews
2-4 Heavier playing wingers to help create space: Hyman/Moore and maybe Kap/Korshkov
Create our top 2 lines from these. that's 2-3 elc's possibly to reduce total cap.

3rd line shut down C for cheaper than Kadri? For sure try to get one.

RHD that can slot on our top pairing is sooooooooo needed. I really hope we focus on that.

swap Bracco for Nylander and you're good.

I watch the Marlies, a lot and I have doubts Bracco's ready for that yet, especially if we're talking about top 6 role

He's a fantastic PP QB but his overall game 5v5 leaves something to be desired

If Nylander drives people nuts prepare for Nylander 2.0, but with a worse all round game

Saying swap Bracco for Nylander is ridiculous, Nylander is an NHL player (a pretty good one) and nobody knows what Bracco is at the NHL level yet

Let's just cool our Jets a bit here

I was trying to say keep Nylander as the playmaking winger. People are nuts putting Bracco ahead of him at this point.

I’m sure in your heart of hearts you guys know this, but the Sharks are not taking Marleau back under any reasonable circumstance. It’s not happening, stop using us to make your cap work. We have less than no need for Marleau and almost as many cap questions as you guys. We’re not taking him for a 7th round pick and we’re not taking him for Braun. End of story.
I think you should address your concerns to Kyle Dubas as there is not a single poster on this board with the power to trade, or not trade, Marleau. If you truly believe that we,collectively, have any power to change anything in regards to Leaf player personnel I think it best that you seek help from a reputable mental health professional.

I think what he means is that just because you say it wont happen doesnt mean it wont. Maybe? Haha...

But yeah its highly unlikely you guys would take Marleau back given your cap situation.
No, it means that no one on this board has the power to make a trade or change the Marleau situation one way or another. Therefore, the Shark fan should take his outrage and finger wagging back to the Sharks board where it may be appreciated. I,for one, do not appreciate being told what to think or say.

We were after Anton Wedin, but he’s decided to sign with CHI

I think they were in on Yelesin too and he signed with Calgary. Wedin is a little older and just turned it on this year. I'm not even sure why there was interest, saves a contract spot for something more useful.

“Outrage”

You certainly sounded outraged that a Leaf fan would have the temerity to suggest such an outrageous proposal as returning Marleau to his original team. Why else the lecture? Perhaps that is just your awkward way of schooling the peasants.

If a single other Leafs fan thinks my post sounded “outraged”, then I’ll concede the point.

Yea this one might have been good to bow out on. Went from 6 goals in Allsvenskan a year ago to 14 in the SHL at age 26. Could be a late bloomer but very doubtful at this point and time.

Depending on our decisions with Baptiste, McAdam, Gagne, and Subban (All non-tender RFA candidates probably unless we trade their rights) and Ozhiganov leaving, we could have anywhere from 40 to 45 contracts committed to next season already if all of our other RFA's re-sign. Doesn't give us much roster flexibility going into free agency if we start adding tweeners like this.

Dude, switch to decaf. It’s a forum to talk shop and he didn’t say anything over the top.

Dissenting opinions are allowed and the guy isn’t trolling. I think you will find most Leaf posters agree with the points he made.

Chill. :)

Nylander had a bad year for sure but is it possible he repairs his trade value decrease with his play for Sweden? Or is it too short a tournament to make up for this years lack of success?
